Hi Ned,
Always look forward to your Calendars. A long time since I was able to get to see any beautiful scenery from a Helicopter, although I did manage some fixed wing flying before the whole lockdown shenanigans.
Looking forward to getting back under the spinning disc now things are opening up again.

Regards
Eddieheli

Thanks for this, again.

The year has included both good and bad.
The bad part was the company shutting down operations due to decreased workload, and us pilots having to find other sources of income. The good was that perhaps because of this, the company didn't go belly up, and after reopening we have even managed to expand into some new ventures that might bring in some needed extra work in the future.

A top-looking calendar which will look most splendid on my wall.

I'm sort of semi-retired these days - somewhat more retired than semi due to the Covid nightmare but, with any luck, I will neither die nor go broke with the absence of training work. Had the vaccinations so a lot of the potential concern for both of us here has mostly faded.

Best wishes to all the Rotorhead folks as we close in on Christmas 21 and, I have no doubt, we all look forward to a far better year in 2022.

John

On balance, my family and I got off really well. No-one within our friends and family were seriously ill or lost their jobs. I was furloughed and my role made redundant, but I was able to apply for other another role within the same company. I was a little grumpy that someone else was also taken to interview stage who had little experience relative to the role, just to be seen to be fair. In normal circumstances they would not have made it past CV review. Both of us ended up getting appropriate roles in the company, so all's well that ends well.

Being furloughed did mean spending more time at home and given the lack of flying I did at least have one highlight during that period. For my birthday my wife got me a poster, (I think that a fair few would recognise), professionally framed. Poster was a bargain, the frame...gulp!

I do have another wall that is a little bare and would benefit from a calendar :) Although, just reading up the thread, I may have missed the boat on that!!

Onwards and, most importantly, upwards to 2022!

KiwiNedNZ 25th Oct 2021 19:47

Thread is still open, will close it off when I have run out of calendars to give away. Everyone just has to keep in mind that with Covid ALL mail is taking longer to get to places which is why we are sending them out now so they get to everyone well in time for the start of the New Year.

SRFred 26th Oct 2021 06:24

Don't qualify so I ordered one of your 2022 Air Attack calendars from your website. Cheers.

valais 26th Oct 2021 09:45

Once again, thanks for the generous offer, Ned!

Not that much flying this year, the helicopter being in the shop after being crashed in while sitting on the helipad. Fortunately everybody involved was able to walk away with only a couple of bruises. As the repairs are coming very slowly to an end, looking ver much forward to again spending time in the air over the coming month.

Old Farang 27th Oct 2021 06:21

Here in the land of "me first" the only regular activity with helicopters that I see in Bangkok is the Royal Thai Police. Regular flights over where I live, but then the generals have to get to the golf course on time! No idea what is happening offshore from Songla.
Still very high numbers of new Covid case every day, along with confusing news reports concerning travel and vaccines.

Cheers Ned, stay safe.

Nice calendar,

The year has been to forget, I hope we all get ahead after the hard lessons learned.

KiwiNedNZ 28th Oct 2021 17:45

To those just sending me addresses without making a post on this thread please note we wont be sending you a calendar until you follow the rules of the post like everyone else :)

Not a professional, unlike so many of you guys. Highlight of 2021 is passing my handling skills test, something for which I have wished and waited for 60 years (not a misprint). I actually get to sit in the P1 seat and fly for a couple of hours at a time. Feels as though I am a passer-by who has been dragged off the street, pushed into the cockpit blades turning and told to get on with it. All part of a cartoon fantasy life I thought would never happen but I actually get to do.

Now that I know how difficult it is to fly well, my admiration for the pros only increases with each hour in the air. If you've ever felt as though you're being watched, it's me, worshiping from afar.

Another year of retirement sitting on the aft deck watching sunrises, sunsets, ships and the world go by, now preparing for the second winter on board and planning next years trips.

Aviating was a wonderful life, wherever it took me, but so is life on a boat.

All aviators fly safe , all retirees enjoy

Just as beautiful from a boat as from a helicopter

Thanks for another year of Calendars, Ned!

2021 similar to 2020 for me. Working US DOD contracts abroad for my company still steady (except for the AFG contracts, they are done). Travel to work not always fun, 30+ hour commercial flights with masks on full time nearly unbearable. Getting tested and having results in hand both ways tricky at times. Lot more people on those long flights this year, pretty close to before 2019 in my opinion. I work even time 60/60, we are all required to have the jabs. There have been so many people close to my workmates and myself back home who have been lost to the 'Rona, but we are safe. Weird, that. Like we escape the worst of it back home to make our living abroad. And no masks amongst ourselves at work, yay. Not until we go/get home.

No worries on long postal timings, I don't get home til week before xmas. And I know the calendar will be great to look at! Cheers!

Ned,
Thank you for your generous offer. I may have missed the boat, but no worries.

What year is it even? The last two have melded into a confused mash. My industry (fixed-wing bizjets) experienced a severe C19-induced downturn followed by a shockingly strong recovery. For this we are grateful, but also cognizant of how fickle this industry can be. Also fortunate that loved-ones' illnesses have been dealt with so far. A major move from the home in which we raised our children was a bittersweet change. For sure, the pandemic and the state of the world have reinforced in my wife and me that we must cherish every moment.

Warmest regards,
Tweedles

Still got a few left to give away

FC80 3rd Nov 2021 22:22

Thanks as always Ned for your generous offer!

I really can’t have any complaints about my year.

As far as work goes, it hasn’t really been influenced that much by COVID and I still enjoy flying helicopters immensely.

Speaking to fixed wing colleagues it’s clear their side of the industry has generally been hit harder and hearing some of their stories, I think, reminds me to be thankful for the job that I have.

I’m hopeful that the world continues to recover from COVID and that aviation continues to be a worthwhile and rewarding career for years to come - perhaps even flying the much-derided weird and wonderful VTOL machines that occasionally appear on Rotorheads threads :8

KiwiNedNZ 5th Nov 2021 17:16

Last Call Everyone - now in the start of November and with slow shipping because of Covid its taking longer for post to get around the world so if you want to take advantage of this offer and have one on your walls before 1 Jan then make your post now.

To all those who have posted already your calendars are on their way. Enjoy.

ZoltN 5th Nov 2021 19:17

Hi Ned,
thanks both for the beautiful calendar and the generous offer.

Working as a licensed engineer in the law enforcement sector, I cannot really complain.

The year started with a major salary increase, with promises for another one for 2022. I got license for a new type (MD500), learned a lot, and also became involved in maintenance management. I got married, and my wife gave birth to my first child, a beautiful boy.

On the other hand, I really got pissed off several times by the stupidity I experience in military/police aviation day by day. I hope aviation will recover sooner or later, and more opportunities will be available in the commercial sector.

jimf671 6th Nov 2021 17:03

Just back from a meeting about MR and a bit about helicopters and there is a calendar waiting for me on the mat! Need that to cheer me up this week Ned. Thank you.

Flying Bull 6th Nov 2021 18:24
