A story with one BIG difference! The As365 pitcher is a good guy because he has still reference to ground!
Flying to high and get IMC brings you much more trouble.......

GrayHorizonsHeli 29th Sep 2018 19:05

but we will never know what this guy had reference to will we? he wont be able to tell us through a secret squirrel club member any of the details.
Nor do we know for 100% certainty if the 365 driver maintained visual with the ground at all times.

I suspect that the airport calling better weather than he was in, was a huge factor to press on. Ended badly.

I did ask the question at#328,but never got the courtesy of a reply.......

SASless 30th Sep 2018 17:33

Sorry....no Fog....but certainly operating close to people and vehicles.

Those who have their Knickers in a wad over a helicopter flying beside a Roadway....which creates a real risk?

Bell_ringer 30th Sep 2018 17:44

The real question is, were they eating lunch at the time? :E

Well, that's a tricky one. Due to the Army allowing Sergeant Pilots, they might have been having Dinner or Tea, rather than Lunch if they were Commissioned Officers.

Doesn't tea require cupholders? No wonder the EU didn't work :}

I might be missing something, but I'm not quite sure what your point is.

The class thing again.

Yes of course it is, but I just wondered how he could explain it. I guess he can't or won't.

Ascend Charlie 2nd Oct 2018 08:58

Cupholders??

Officers require saucers to put their cucumber sandwiches on while they sip the tea. Leaf tea, none of that American teabag rubbish, don'tcha know...

nigelh 2nd Oct 2018 12:29

I think what he means is the lower classes have “ dinner “ and the officers have “ lunch” .......
for officers dinner is around 8pm not 1pm !

toptobottom 2nd Oct 2018 13:47

Actually...
dinner
ˈdɪnə/
nounnoun: dinner; plural noun: dinners
  1. the main meal of the day, taken either around midday or in the evening.synonyms:evening meal, supper, main meal, repast; More
lunch; feast, banquet, dinner party; tea; informalblowout, binge, feed; informalnosh-up, scoff, slap-up meal, spread, tuck-in; formalrefection, collation
    "a five-course dinner was served"
    • a formal evening meal, typically one in honour of a person or event.synonyms:evening meal, supper, main meal, repast

(If ever there was a time to stop this thread, now is that time...)

SASless 2nd Oct 2018 15:04

We seem to be making a real meal out of this!

PDR1 2nd Oct 2018 15:54

Officers have Luncheon - they serve lunch in the sergent's mess.

But the pilots of this particular helicopter must eat in the Jedi Refectory, given that they seem to navigate using The Force...
