The tip of the hat to okee is nice. However, the American airline top heavy/ upside down triangle structure of CHC is their point of failure. The helicopter industry is not the fixed wing airline industry.
Don't want to sound negative, but just look at Karl's first move.........rebranding! They're not even out of ch11 yet (?).
The successful CEO will flip that triangle right side up, if time allows.
Just follow HNZ....a quiet CEO/ management, picking away...... getting contracts.

It only hurts as they apply the branding iron to your butt..I have about seven brands on mine. Always hated that term.

Malabo.........loved the "Canadian roots, ethic, regulatory flexibility and competence" part! The days of showing up early, staying late and working together with professionals to get the job done unfortunately died the day First Reserve stepped in. The continuous sea of +/- 500' ex-military IFR superstars from south of the border quickly diluted the talent pool...........and like a malignant tumour "What can I do to help?" was quickly replaced with "It's not my problem" and "Has the bus left yet?" I pulled the pin there many years ago and it's been tough to watch a pedestal company get run into the ground from mismanagement and poor hiring practices. I'm sure I'll retire one day and look back on those two decades with the old CHC as the best years in my career.

I agree with all the latest comments.
The attempted return to Okanagan's colours, after decimating nearly every one of the original crews that built OK is an attempt by the new CHC management to claim to know its history. You simply can't compare what OK was with what this aptly named "American airline top heavy/ upside down triangle structure" is. I tend to think that the new orange colour is simply the new "money bleeding" red moving forward, with a bit of rust thrown in, because it's been going on for so long. If and when the Fifth Circuit court allows this charade to start again how long will it last using "other people's money". To sum it up, to try and pretend that the old OK brand is still around is an insult to those that worked there for so many years.
First Reserve really did put the finishing touch, literally, to what was once a fine company. Remember that this all started before the price of oil took a nose dive. I think starving rats in a small cage treat each other better than what is going on right now, based on what I hear. This doesn't usually make for positive results either in the short term or long term. The correct logo right now is with the bird on its back looking up.

IRVING, TX, March 5, 2017 – CHC Group (the "Company" or "CHC") today announced that the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Texas has confirmed the Company’s Plan of Reorganization (the “Plan”) and signed a confirmation order to that effect. The Company expects to complete its financial restructuring process and emerge from Chapter 11 in the next few weeks, after the conditions of the Plan are satisfied.

Under the terms of the Plan, a comprehensive recapitalization of CHC will be completed that will provide $300 million in new capital from certain of the Company's existing creditors, as well as terms for restructured aircraft leases and the option for additional asset based financing commitments of $150 million from The Milestone Aviation Group Limited and its affiliates. In addition, under the Plan, CHC’s liabilities will be reduced and its debt restructured.

I see that plan included being a Gold level sponsor at HAI2017

Lots of flak for the rebrand. I think it's a good idea to get the name back out there with a better vibe against it.

On this very forum we are all talking about how CHC is a) very soon to be no longer in Ch 11 and b) has a new brand. Sponsoring HAI (for $100k or whatever it costs) and a brand refresh ($50k tops) means that everyone who attended HAI (most of the oil co movers and shakers - core market basically) all now know CHC is back.

Money well spent if you ask me.

Good news! CHC shares are up 400%. I just made 1000 USD!

The bad news is I lost 10,000 in the CHC share crash. Doh! Come on CHC get those shares back up before I retire.

Shares continue to be traded while a company is in chapter 11. They are however worthless unless a plan is approved by the court that compensates shareholders. This is not the case with CHC. The price movement that you see is based on very small trades (20 shares were traded today) and they were most probably bought by someone who pressed a wrong button or thought they were buying stock with a similar name. Sorry my friend but you would still be better of investing in a balaclava and a pistol.

Max I am sure what you say is correct. However they were 10 cents last month and now 55 cents. What causes an effective 400% rise if only a few shares are traded?
I learned my lesson and the hard way but invested faithfully in the Company that employed me. No regrets really and I am sure Big Bad Bill bought another ivory back scratcher with my money along with everyone else's!

I stick to funds now and a bite of the "Apple" which by the way has done well in the last few months.

I hope CHC survive. Not for the suits that work there but the many great people who soldier on trying to keep a future going. Paradoxically it's probably the shareholder obsession that sunk them just like BRS and I guess I am part of that. It's a complex world we live in but that's what makes it interesting.

You may hope that Hope makes the markets work but I think greed and fear are more powerful drivers of the markets.

I consider myself extremely lucky to have got through my career without having been killed, sacked or made redundant at any time.

It was fun in the early days and I thoroughly enjoyed the flying right up to my last flight (especially the 225), the crew room banter and general camaraderie. I did eventually get sick of the way that good senior aviation managers, who were prepared to stand up to the bean counters and commercial salesmen who thought they were just selling widgets, were pushed out and replaced by "here today, gone tomorrow" faceless individuals who had no real history or working knowledge of the industry.

And don't get me started on what I am reading about the "rebranding" of our ex employer. What a waste of money for no benefit :(

Hi Hugh, on the subject of rebranding, it's surely a joke that so many creditors got stiffed by C 11 and then the Courts then allow so much more money to get pissed into the wind. I don't blame the managers because that's like blaming a Lion for eating its own cubs. Or a Lemming for jumping off the mountain! I blame the Courts who should know better and should provide at least some protection for what's left.

Looks like Feesnden is just another Idiot trusted with another bunch of investors money.

It's Friday and I'm up for an argument:

Double Bogey - please list the creditors who got stiffed by CHC/ The Court? The big ones (the only ones who matter - as is always the case) now own CHC after making 9% for 5+ years on the debt so I'd argue it's a pretty good deal for them. But never let the facts get in the way of a good story fueled by self interest.

You obviously dislike the people 'upstairs' - you know those people who actually won the work for you in the crew room to fly. They are all lower than worthless clearly because they never wore an immersion suit and aviation is simply too complex for anyone except a pilot to understand? And then you wonder why you get the impression they do not respect you? So much for all being on the same team.

PS If you're going to insult Karl, at least spell his name correctly.
