Namaste VF ,
I have been meaning to ask you for some time now, what does Sagarmatha mean in Nepalese, we low country folk simple know it as Mt Everest which always tells us the Highest in the World some say K2 is higher, having never stood on either I cannot make any informed comment. Stay safe my friend. Peter R-B Lancashire UK |
Top of the World - details
Namaste Peter-RB
Brother - Sagarmatha has a few meanings - 'forehead of the Sky & Sea' & 'the Mother of the Universe' It is claimed that K2 is the second highest place on our Planet at 28,211' & our Sagarmatha (Everest) is 29,035' (corrected) :ooh: hmmmm but I have not measured either, have flown up around Sagarmatha to 28,800' (top of climb, she ran out of puff) with 9 cameras filming & 1 Producer/Camera man on-board  Happy landings & Cheers to Life :) |

Time for mourning
Hey mate, I saw this in the news twelve-dead-in-mount-everest-avalanche.
I'm guessing it will be a difficult time for you all up there. Our prayers are with you. Namaste. :( |
what CYH said... fly safe, VF.. :(:(
|
+1...
Be careful & fly safe always. |
I hope our pal from the Land of Jagged Peaks is OK, it seems a longish time with no comment whatsoever!
Peter R-B Lancashire |
I suspect he will be flying his backside off.
Was just listening to a program on radio 4 about how the compensation to the sherpas familys is $800 and they are going on strike until they get 10k. |
There have been a couple of recent comments from him on BookFace, so it would seem all is OK

Avalanche update
Good morning Fellow Rotorheads

Namaste VF,
Sir - You are a true, honourable gentleman and a kind human being whom we have all come to love and respect here on Pprune. I wish we had more of your kind all over the world. Keep safe always....:ok: |
VF,
Apologies my friend for my delayed response, I am currently in Sri Lanka, and the internet is not so reliable here. Terrible news about your piece of paradise, and now I see that climbing may be over for the year. (From the Lankan Daily Mirror). Chin up mate. Condolences to all your friends and their families. Some amazing pictures in this thread...showing great skill at work.
But I find this statement a bit rich for a guy that has his own PPRUNE thread dedicated to massaging his ego: "Thanks Brother. Yaar gold bars, stripes & BS don't make You a better Pilot, that stuff is for EGO massage ONLY." Not taking away from his skills..but maybe step off the soapbox a little. I fly in a white shirt, silver bars and at times a tie...even polished shoes. I'm not stroking my ego...I'm following company guidelines. If the shirt and bars is the price I need to pay to fly close to home...then so be it. |
