Hey MercuryRises
Yep there is 1 x Mi17 operated by Shree here & yes with the TV3 donks  But can't give You any clue as to how they perform ultra high. They fly with 5 metric tons internal cargo into VNSB, the World's 3rd highest airstrip Land Happy always :) |
Thanks VF. They are overloading the Mi-17. It can carry 4 Tons inside. 5 tons is really pushing it. They must have very skilled pilots to carry such load to VNSB.

Excellent set of pictures again VF. Thanks!
Do you encounter any issues regarding communication with ATC due to language/communication barriers? |
G'day gcpilot8
Thanks Brother :ok: As we are an ICAO country here, all ATC dialogue must be in English, so no problemo :8 Happy Landings ;) |
Namaste VF
Your old Turbine blades look a little second hand on the leading edge, what do you do for things and spare like that, do you have to wait a long time or do you carry stores to cover such things, The past few days of your pictures have been the finest I have seen from you, you will be there for the rest of ya life, you would be bored if you went anywhere else....Happy landings VF Peter R-B Lancashire |
OK VF this is the perfect moment to get an AFS barrier filter and swap the C20J to a C20R. Soloy has promised a half price installation kit with the STC
|
VF, you just need to get the Lady VF`s nail files and get to work on the blades..good for another 500 hrs....!!:)

Nail files
VF, re nail files, guts for garters etc, us engine blokes always carried our "Riffler Files" to blend slight dents & abrasions, but for deeper damage & as a "get you home" for the man in the RH seat a nail file often worked wonders, there must be stories on here about what we did that experience & 20 years of engineering taught us that got the job done to get the rotating mass airborne & home ! often a case of needs must within the parameters of safety and being an engineer in the old (good) days before all this yellow jacket & risk assessment stuff came in, PH (an ex helicopter engine fitter & engineer).
|
Riffler file
As an addition, if there is any helicopter engine fitter / engineer out there that doesn't have a Riffler File in their toolkit I am quite willing to pass mine on as I am now a happily retired ex helicopter/gas turbine engineer & my uses for said item are absolutely minimal (no good even for smoothing nails in leiu of a nail file !), regards, Paul H.

I don't know how I had never looked at this thread until last week. Then it became like the great compelling book that you just can't put down. I'm holding you responsible for hours and hours of work I didn't do because I was so entranced by these photos. I finally made it here from page 1, after days and days. Please, don't stop "wasting" my time! When you get to those sites at 2000', do you get sick from too much oxygen?:} Funny how rotorheads usually joke about not flying above 500' to avoid nosebleeds, and you're playing astronaut.:D |
VF,
1,000 rescues mate. :ok: That would sound great, if you didn't take into account where you are - then it is bloody amazing ! Well done sir. Arrrj PS _ that last photo (video) is nasty...who wants to fly around in that stuff. |
Kaisa hai VF
1000 rescues! Much respect. Hope you have 1000 more. CT. |
1000 rescues! With great respect and much admiration, well done VF.

Coffee time
Hey zetec2
My risk assessment is upon arrival looking outside; weather, wind, Helipad, approach-escape & doing a power check at 15knots (ETL) to see what margin I will have if any :uhoh: the yellow jacket is trendy, no requirements here for Pilot at least to wear fluro vests  ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Goodmorning helistoked Thanks Brother :D ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Namaste rotorfan WoW, didn't think it was so compelling...many, many thanks :ooh: hehehe Mate I'm still not more than 500'agl most of the time landing above 20,000' except when needing to transit between crossing low passes ;) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- G'day Arrrj Mega thanks Mate, yaaaar that was a lot of challenging flying :ok: Well that last video := very common here, that was a better day than most :yuk: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello cattletruck Thank You, me too! :O ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Giddy Up Gemini Twin Cheers Brother  ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- All the Best in Heath & Happiness :) ❤OmOmOm❤ |
