Thoughts are with VF and the locals who are struggling at this time.

My thoughts are with the unfortunates affected by the earthquake. They already struggle day to day. This tragedy magnifies the difficulties they must overcome just to provide themselves with shelter and food.


I imagine a donation to the Red Cross would be the best way to help, I hope those of us in the world outside Nepal will give generously.

Namaste dhai, Long time fan of your posts, I worked for several seasons early 00s in Nepal as expedition guide and your photos always take me straight back... People would come for the mountains and leave with amazing memories of the truely wonderful people of people, my thoughts are with you all, if ever the helicopter comes into its own it is in times like these, fly safe.

Interesting to see the Fishtail helicopter in the video, being marshalled with "hands on the nose". I'll look forward to hearing what VF has to say about that.

I thought Mr. Reiter was extremely polite to the CNN interviewer, considering the stupid questions she asked him.

This was VFs post on FB last night. Also, he no longer flies for Fishtail Air (job change a little while ago) and he is quite ill so I'm not sure that he could fly anyway :(

Top-of-the-world April tragedy two years in a row, nature being grim. Helicopters plucking people from harms way, uplifting literally & emotionally.

A job worthwhile VF, sometimes I think all any of us can expect from this eyeblink existence is to have made a difference.

Private updates from Steve just now are that he has water ("spring water still OK"). I can't report that he has much more than that, other than an intermittent internet connection.

Steve is an intelligent and resourceful man with a cool head in a crisis (Auto into a gorge with whitewater at bottom anyone?), but like all of us I am concerned for him and his wife as the true scale of this tragedy unfolds.

Glad to hear VF and Mrs VF are OK.
Obviously my thoughts are with the people of Nepal and all those affected.
Trying to think of a useful way to help.

News from my son who is in the Brit army, a C17 full of Gurka's was dispatched last night with emergency rations and med systems, the Indian and Pak Army have both responded also with Military C17s with Field Hospitals and all the bodies needed to run them,
Steve (VF) is exhausted having nearly flown himself to a standstill, you name it and its in short supply, intermittent comms and elec.

Local news in Singapore says, the Singapore Airforce's 3 X C 130s were diverted to Kolkata, due to congestion in Kathmandu.

RSAF was carrying their own 4X4s and vehicles, for quick deployment.

Must be a mess trying to manage the numerous flights trying to get space
