Starting problems solved
Starting problem solved.
Single frayed wire on retard p-lead where it enters the magneto was shorting to case and stopping retarded spark while cranking. Release of starter button occasionally allowed a rather abrupt start with advanced spark but more often a kickback which soon tires the starter drive mechanism resulting in only ever turning over one compression before disengaging. Trimmed fray, replaced starter drive and ended months of starting troubles. Thanks to all for help. |
