Good Luck Lu...
Your posting darkened my day Lu.. but I send unconditional love and best wishes. I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in Feb' 1997 and spent a year unable to walk or see.... couldn't even visit the bathroom unaccompanied.
In 2000 my mobility and eyesight returned enough to recover my commercial priveleges (fixed-wing but not rotary - with as or with co-pilot restriction) and even returned to flying a KingAir 200 for a year.... after remarkable support and encouragement from CAA Aeromedical Dept. The flying's all finished now though but I can still open my own beers and tie my shoe laces too.... can even hit a squash ball a couple of days a month. Just believe buddy... be defiant.... things often work out differently to what the medics would have you believe.... sorry there's no icon here to show a big hug. bm |
In addition to wishing Lu the best in his fight, we can also do something about it.
Go to your local bone marrow ID program and have a simple blood test. You will then be in a donor database and we can all be available to help Lu and others in his same situation. Good Luck Lu! |
Tried that some months ago but the UK age limit is 44 [curious figure, why not 45 or 50].
All the best Lu, keep at it. |
Bone Marrow donation.

Hello Lu:
Hope you are doing well today. For the donor bank, all it requires is a simple blood test. Giving a donation if you were to be a match is as you say, possibly painful but a gift of life. Dan |
Hey Lu, painful yes, but as painful as the very idea of the R22?
|
Sorry to hear about that Lu.
Best wishes and good luck. And as others have said, try to keep your chin up. Hughesy |
Hang in there LU.
Wish you all the strength to fight it back. Delta3 |
Sod kicking and headbutting the "grim reaper", just nuke him. Best of luck, thoughts are with you.

although just in spirit, know that we are fighting with you.
wishing you all the best. J.S. |
Saying a small prayer for you tonight Lou in the proper way. You know, on the knees hand together - never done it before, but it sure feels good to do it for you.
That bucket of luck maybe a bit slow coming, but I'll do my best to get it there soon. Cron |

Keep fighting Lu. We're all with you on this one.
Lyn, your father has always been a passionate contributor to these forums. We may not always have agreed, but he has always fought for what he believes in. That spirit is exactly what he needs now to get through this. May our support, thoughts and prayers be with you. |
Keep at it Lu - a great family friend of ours has recently had similar news.
In the UK (and I guess elsewhere) bone marrow donations are in great demand. Inspired by our friend (although not necessarily for his personal advantage) we are arranging a local donation session with the nearby RAF base. Anyone wanting to organise something similar please PM me for details. There is a particular need (in the UK) for donations from fit males 18-40, and for those from "ethnic minorities". Further details are here . If you are already a blood donor, there is a way the system can get your "marrow type" from your blood we believe. . Sorry if I've appeared to highjack the thread, but I've read and appreciated Lu's contributions for years - his story was so similar to our chum that I couldn't not post this. But to finish as I started - the thoughts and prayers of so many of us are with you Lu :ok: |

Hello every one,

Please pray for him and i will print out all your response and bring them to him so he will be very happy to hear from his friends . Thank you and may God Bless all of you. Lyne |
Lyne,
Whilst I'm increasingly coming to the opinion that your Dad is completely indistructible, please remind him that our best wishes are with him all the way, and very glad to hear that he seems to be heading in the right direction. G |
Good luck Lu,
You're in our thoughts & prayers. Get Well Soon |
Hi lyneco while your dad has no idea who I am, if you can print off his thread in the Nostalgia forum too you will see I am loudly supporting his bid to get Sidney to "**** off" hehehe :)
