Message from Neville Dawson

Lu - You were the source of many laugh's and enjoyment on Rotorheads with your constant debates with everyone about everything. We spoke a couple of times about the model helicopters you were distributing and I found you to be an entertaining character. As you read Rotorheads from your place
high above, rest assured there are many here with a lump in their throat upon hearing of your passing.
God Speed Lu and you will never be forgotten.

I never knew Lu, as I only read a few of his posts. But through the lines of many rotorheads, I can see the scale of this sad loss and how very special he was.

My deepest condolences to his family and friends.

Well, I'm not a flyer, but I've been reading Lu for a good few years.

He was one of of those damn the torpedoes people who called things as he saw them and was 100%, no apologies, no B$ exactly what he was. Not too many left like him, more's the pity.

Very sorry to know that both aviation, and his family have lost a very remarkable and capable man. Cheerio old chap, and deepest sympathies to his family and friends.

I hope that when my time comes, I'll have achieved as much and made as many friends.

Farewell and Godspeed Lu. I'll miss your insightful thoughts about rotor system dynamics and helicopter control systems. I'm glad i had the opportunity to discuss engineering with one of the true greats in rotorcraft history.

:( Lu touched so many people scattered around this world.

I was one, his passing saddens me.

I never met him.
I never spoke to him.
We exchanged letters/thoughts through the ether.

His passing saddens me.

My regards to his family. As hard as it is, sometimes this is the easy stage.

RIP Lu I hope you have a good broadband connection where you are now

This rotorhead is going to miss you and your discussions a lot. I hope your family take some comfort from the universal respect that has been shown for you by your cyber friends here on pprune.

Mods maybe you could compile a thread of his prodigious input to Rotorheads? His threads were sometimes a little off track but they were always well reasoned, thought provoking and they brought out some of the best responses that this forum has to offer.

Blue skies Lu

Your expertise is unsurpassed. Will miss your posts ... :(

I was sad to here this news today. As someone has noted, this seems odd to have feelings for a person I never met. Lu pushed for aviation safety without concern for the usual "shoot the messenger" attacks that always came his way. I admired and supported his quest for aviation safety. Thanks Lu, we will miss you.

RIP Lu,

I will miss the banter between you and nick, I am sure you can write to god about a thing or two though!

HeliMark 17th Jul 2005 17:01

Thank you Lu.

The best way to judge what type of a person someone is or was is to see what other people say about that person.

Lu was obviously well loved and well respected by everyone here at PPRUNE, He will be missed.

For Lyne and Lu's family take you can really feel proud of who Lu Zuckerman was.

R.I.P Lu my thought are with you and your family.

MightyGem 17th Jul 2005 19:44

One of Rotorheads characters, he will be sorely missed. Lu, where ever you are, fly safe.
