Lu, those can't be the only options.

Dave Jackson will put some lateral thinking into play and come up with an option that none of the doctors has even considered!

helmet fire 10th Jun 2005 00:23

Stay strong Lu.
Strong.

NickLappos 10th Jun 2005 01:20

We're with you, Lu. You are family, and in our prayers.

carsickpuppy 10th Jun 2005 03:20

Best wishes Lu

You are unstoppable

Jed A1 10th Jun 2005 05:26

Lu,

All the best.

rotorfan 10th Jun 2005 05:36

Geez, Lu, just tell the docs that they'll have to make their yacht payments off some other customers.

You're in our prayers. :ok: Keep us informed.

Dave_Jackson 10th Jun 2005 06:47

Lu,
Think positive and keep fighting; for the sake of yourself, your family, and your friends.
Dave

albatross 10th Jun 2005 06:56

Well ain't that a  .
Our thoughts are with you.
We await your further dispatches with great interest - kindly do keep us informed.
I the meantime all the best.
As my friend said when the engine blew up: "You know - Ya gotta hate it when this happens!"

Being there are so many people on these forums who seem to think they communicate directly with God I am sure your speedy recovery is assured.

cyclicmicky 10th Jun 2005 07:26

Be positve LU,
Good luck

Hilico 10th Jun 2005 07:39

Best of British luck, Mr Zuckerman. If it's any comfort, people have suffered all of those outcomes in the prognosis as a result of...flying a helicopter. And apparently lots of people survive flying a helicopter...even an R22.

soggyboxers 10th Jun 2005 08:46

Lu,

I'll join all the others in saying that our thoughts are with you and that you'll be in our prayers to beat this thing. Hang on in there and don't let it beat you - you never let anything else beat you yet.

Flight Safety 10th Jun 2005 14:52

Lu, so sorry to hear that. You're in our prayers. Surely the next round of chemo will take care of it.

slowrotor 10th Jun 2005 15:10

Lu,
Doctors are often wrong. I know, my partner was not expected to recover from a serious head injury, but she did anyway.
Just extend your TBO a little.

ShyTorque 10th Jun 2005 21:27

Best regards Lu, wishing all the best of luck for you on this.

Best of luck,

MightyGem 11th Jun 2005 17:28

Sorry to hear that Lu,
keep fighting.

Hang in there Lu. I dont know if you have considered "alternatives" but just a thought----have you heard bout "noni". People in Hawaii swear by it. I personally dont follow the myth, however I have seen positive results from its use.
Best of luck and hope to see your posts in the future.

cpt 12th Jun 2005 09:38

Bon courage, we are all with you.
Wish you a positive rate of climb again.
Tiens bon !

Lowlevldevl 12th Jun 2005 14:26

Real sorry to hear that Lu,
Just reading some of your old posts its obvious you've got brains. The way you handled the last bout of this insidious crap tells us you've also got guts. Guts AND brains. You must be a pilot as well, right?;)
Seriously Lu, we're all on your side and praying for a good outcome.

kick the grim reaper in the nuts often enough and he'll go pick on someone else.
Head butt him a couple of times, for good measure ! Keep fighting Lu, you can make a difference in the outcome.

BoeingMEL 12th Jun 2005 19:52

Good Luck Lu...

Your posting darkened my day Lu.. but I send unconditional love and best wishes. I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in Feb' 1997 and spent a year unable to walk or see.... couldn't even visit the bathroom unaccompanied.

In 2000 my mobility and eyesight returned enough to recover my commercial priveleges (fixed-wing but not rotary - with as or with co-pilot restriction) and even returned to flying a KingAir 200 for a year.... after remarkable support and encouragement from CAA Aeromedical Dept.

The flying's all finished now though but I can still open my own beers and tie my shoe laces too.... can even hit a squash ball a couple of days a month.

Just believe buddy... be defiant.... things often work out differently to what the medics would have you believe.... sorry there's no icon here to show a big hug. bm

diethelm 13th Jun 2005 15:53

In addition to wishing Lu the best in his fight, we can also do something about it.

Go to your local bone marrow ID program and have a simple blood test. You will then be in a donor database and we can all be available to help Lu and others in his same situation.

Good Luck Lu!

Droopy 13th Jun 2005 17:08

Tried that some months ago but the UK age limit is 44 [curious figure, why not 45 or 50].

All the best Lu, keep at it.

Lu Zuckerman 13th Jun 2005 18:39

Bone Marrow donation.

To: diethelm

Go to your local bone marrow ID program and have a simple blood test. You will then be in a donor database and we can all be available to help Lu and others in his same situation.
Actually, I am too old to get a bone marrow transplant however in getting a bone marrow biopsy or donating bone marrow the process is the same. A lot of people equate the donation of bone marrow with a lot of pain. It can be painful but it is dependent on the technique used by the doctor. For my first biopsy I was totally out of it with a very high fever and very high blood sugar. I didn’t feel a thing. On my second biopsy it felt like a nail was being driven into my backside. On the third I didn’t feel a thing. The technique involves the copious amount of zylocain being used to deaden the local area. Do it as it is the gift of life.

diethelm 13th Jun 2005 20:12

Hello Lu:

Hope you are doing well today. For the donor bank, all it requires is a simple blood test. Giving a donation if you were to be a match is as you say, possibly painful but a gift of life.

Dan

Hilico 13th Jun 2005 20:49

Hey Lu, painful yes, but as painful as the very idea of the R22?

Hughesy 13th Jun 2005 22:30

Sorry to hear about that Lu.
Best wishes and good luck.
And as others have said, try to keep your chin up.

Saying a small prayer for you tonight Lou in the proper way. You know, on the knees hand together - never done it before, but it sure feels good to do it for you.

That bucket of luck maybe a bit slow coming, but I'll do my best to get it there soon.

Keep fighting Lu. We're all with you on this one.

Lyn, your father has always been a passionate contributor to these forums. We may not always have agreed, but he has always fought for what he believes in. That spirit is exactly what he needs now to get through this. May our support, thoughts and prayers be with you.

teeteringhead 16th Jun 2005 11:41

Keep at it Lu - a great family friend of ours has recently had similar news.

In the UK (and I guess elsewhere) bone marrow donations are in great demand. Inspired by our friend (although not necessarily for his personal advantage) we are arranging a local donation session with the nearby RAF base. Anyone wanting to organise something similar please PM me for details.

There is a particular need (in the UK) for donations from fit males 18-40, and for those from "ethnic minorities". Further details are here .

If you are already a blood donor, there is a way the system can get your "marrow type" from your blood we believe. .

Sorry if I've appeared to highjack the thread, but I've read and appreciated Lu's contributions for years - his story was so similar to our chum that I couldn't not post this.

But to finish as I started - the thoughts and prayers of so many of us are with you Lu

:ok:

Lyne,

Whilst I'm increasingly coming to the opinion that your Dad is completely indistructible, please remind him that our best wishes are with him all the way, and very glad to hear that he seems to be heading in the right direction.

Hi lyneco while your dad has no idea who I am, if you can print off his thread in the Nostalgia forum too you will see I am loudly supporting his bid to get Sidney to "**** off" hehehe :)

Glad to hear that things are going in the right direction. Best wishes to your Dad, looking forward to reading his wise words on here again soon.
