Great stuff Lu.
Your dogged determination that you use to stick to your beliefs and ideas has pulled you through a big one.

Good effort.

Very, very good news.
It is about time, that you come back. We were discussing loops and roles for the third time in 3 weeks.
It is boring without you Lu.

cyclicmicky 5th Apr 2005 16:33

Well done Lu,
it's nice to see someone win , in fact it's better than that, it's absolutely brilliant.
:ok: :ok: :ok:

Lu Zuckerman 14th May 2005 14:10

I may have spoken too soon

I got back from the hospital the other day. I have technically finished my ChemoTherapy and they tell me the Leukemia is in remission. However over the next four months I have to spend six days in the hospital each month for what they call consolidation treatment, which consists of two doses of ChemoTherapy every 24 hours over the six days. This is supposed to give long term results although it can come back again. I lost a brother to Leukemia so I am very concerned. However with the love and support of My and Pearls families and the support of PPRuNer's I maintain a positive attitude. I have just a bit of fuzz on my head but my beard is coming back but very slowly.

After each monthly session I must take injections for the first ten days in order to rebuild my white blood cells. These tiny vials cost 270$ Canadian or 2700$ Canadian for each session of ten.

Lucky for me I haven't had any nausea as they give me something while taking ChemoTherapy and none so far while at home.

Wish me luck.

Hi Lu

I am sure you didn't speak too soon, the spirit is more important than the luck - but good luck anyway.

A bucket of luck coming your way Lu. You just watch.

Graviman 14th May 2005 17:03

Good luck Lu. Keep reading up on the tech stuff, and i'm sure we'll be reading about your engineering, or flying, achievements some day. :ok:

Lu,

Turn this antagonist around 180-degrees and kick butt. Then get back to work on the 18-degrees. ;)

Gordy 14th May 2005 20:01

Good luck, whats the saying---"when life throws you lemons--make lemonade", make lots of lemonade and you will be fine.

MightyGem 14th May 2005 20:39

Keep on hanging in there, Lu.

pilotwolf 14th May 2005 20:44

Fingers crossed for you...

Seen some incredible turn arounds and unexpected outcomes in my time as a paramedic.

Keep the spirits up! You got a lot of support here - including those who've disagreed with your 'stances' in the past!

Lu

Depending on the point of view, you either always speak too soon or you are always wrong.

This time we all think you are wrong, I know that a lot of guys who read PPrune but never post and they to are rooting for you as am I.

At the end of this I am expecting a blow by blow detail of how you beat it, nothing else will be accepted.

I wish you well for the battle and hope to see you in this neck of the woods soon. You are more than welcome to use my place as a base for the 2005 ( or 6) uk visit.

Keep us all posted, even the bad bits, just talk about it. Most of us do care.

V.

I wish you all the luck in the world mate.
Looking forward to hearing about the long term results.
Just think how much better the aerodynamics of your head are!

cyclicmicky 15th May 2005 10:50

Good luck Lu,
before long you will need a rasta hat for your dreadlocks!!
:ok: :ok:

moosp 15th May 2005 17:01

From half way across the world and from a pilot who follows your arguments with interest, best wishes for your recovery.

Aviation text books still refer to Aerodynamic Theory. Therefore you are entitled to your theoretical opinions until it becomes a law. We need your input, so hang around for a while.

Flingwing207 16th May 2005 03:01

Hey Lu!

We'll all be :uhoh: if you stay :yuk: so from us you get :ok: so we keep getting :E

Lu old sport...a bit of nauseum would be only fair....think of all you gave your trusted colleague and dear friend Lappos over the years! Granted he is probably still sticking pins in his Lu Doll.

imabell 22nd May 2005 03:34

i'm sure that you can write about it enough for it to give up in frustration

:ok:

blave 22nd May 2005 07:13

Lu,

I'm at least/no more than an agnostic but my prayers are with you. I have enjoyed your posts here and look forward to many more. Pull pitch and beat it out of there!

Lu Zuckerman 9th Jun 2005 17:59

Yeah Docter but you said I was in remission.

To paraphrase the words of the immortal General Douglas MacArthur when he said, "I'll be back". Well it seems the Leukemia had the same idea. I went in for a blood test last Tuesday and the Doctor saw something suspicious in the printout. She had me give more blood and this test verified that the Leukemia had returned. Next Wednesday I go back for another blood test and a bone marrow biopsy. I think it takes two days to get the bone marrow results and at that time the doctor will most likely put me back in the hospital for a more extensive chemotherapy. She indicated that this would possibly cause me some really big problems like internal bleeding or a severe infection or at the worst "death". So much for the options.

I'll keep in touch,

:E :( :( :E :{

SASless 9th Jun 2005 18:04

Keep your chin up Lu....lots of us pulling for you. Leave a way for us to keep you posted of whats going on here....don't want you out of touch like last time. I will have a chat with Nick about those pins he been sticking in that Lu doll.

Heliport 9th Jun 2005 18:36

Very sorry to hear that, Lu.

No need to tell you to hang on in there - we know you will. :ok:

We'll be hoping and praying for you.

We are all thinking of you, it seems lame to say stick with it, because we have no idea what you are really going through, but stick with it anyway!

Gute Besserung,

Helipolarbear 9th Jun 2005 20:33

Lu, as ever you share your honest thoughts with all of us. Next time you are on the forum could you give us some of your thoughts regarding the next 20 years in the Heli industry. Political, designs, engineering, aerodynamics,people...etc, and try not to forget the amazing attributes of that upsidedown lawnmower: THE ROBINSOB 22.................wish you a continued recovery and good health.

bondu 9th Jun 2005 21:10

All the best Lu.

Keep on fighting.

Graviman 9th Jun 2005 21:16

Hi Lu,

I've really enjoyed reading your technical posts. Keep fighting the thing 'till you beat it. Visit your local healthfood shop for lots of vitamins and minerals (antioxidants ets) - just gives your immune system the ammo it needs to see you right. Keep in touch with the forum so we can give you some positive vibes.

Ian Corrigible 9th Jun 2005 22:00

Very disappointing news, Lu. Bad as I know chemo is, try and retain your positive attitude, because it really does help in the battle. (Kick the grim reaper in the nuts enough times and he'll bugger off and pick on someone else.)

Hang in there mate.

I/C

overpitched 9th Jun 2005 22:02

Best of luck Lu. I hope everything goes extremely well for you. No need to tell you to keep fighting. We have all read your posts. So we know you will.

Get well soon !!!
