a/What type of flying work do you do?
Nearly all Mustering, general Airwork, have an ag rating and did a bit of spraying, used to do a lot of work with geologists, stream sampling and so on, done a bit of hook work. Have done quite a bit of mustering training and low level training, no instructor rating but was an approved pilot for those duties.

R22, R44
c/Where?
Northern Australia
d/Previous jobs?
Stockman, Head stockman, Station Manager, Line Pilot, Senior Pilot, Chief pilot of 3 different flying operations. Check and Training approval. Mustering and Low level Training approval.

Rotary B47, H300. Fixed wing PA18, PA28, C172, C182, C206
f/Military / ex-Military? (Which? What types?)
No Mil

Got fixed wing in 1981, Rotary in 1984

i/Most memorable Flight
Here is a few ,
1/ The day I mustered 7,000 head of cattle and blocked them up on a water under control. (the stockmen out there would understand this)
2/ Mustering on a still, cool morning in a half loaded R22, poetry.
3/ Playing around the first one of a row of Morning Glories, our gulf roll clouds. The first one usually looks like a snow bank and the base can be 50ft off the ground and go up to 3000 ft high but can be quite calm to maneuver around. A fantastic sight, one of the wonders of the world.
I love my flying work mustering and wish I was better able to pass on the soul and beauty of the good things i see in the life I lead.

Whatever turns a penny these days. Last few years - African pipeline construction, UK offshore, Dutch Offshore, Penzance-Scillies, now offshore for the winter

Instructor Pilot & TRE/IRE - challenging; HEMS - humbling, we get all the glory but the doctors/paramedics are awesome; Law Enforcement- respect - you have to see it to believe it!; SAR - scary, how come we have to do the toughest of jobs with the oldest equipment?; VIP - interesting insight to the world of celebrity, Charter work with the 206 - great fun! - at least it was 20 years ago; Offshore - the daily grind no matter what the conditions - every penny earnt is thoroughly deserved,

Most Memorable flight - Has to be a toss-up between the day I was flying Saudi Sheik from London to Coventry in a 206. He was in the front seat and calmly drained the dregs of a half bottle of Scotch before sliding the window open and tossing the (glass) bottle out before I could even say "what the *******
" We were passing over a housing area next to Northolt at the time!
or
the day we picked up a badly burnt baby from a campsite (gas expolsion in tent). The paramedic was cradling the babe in his arms in the seat next to me. I remember looking down at the squalling mite and thinking "if God ever had a purpose in mind when mankind created the helicopter then this was it". The combination of prompt action by the father (dowsed baby in cold water) swift transport to specialist Burns Centre and the skill of the hospital staff meant that no skin grafts were required. Babe made full recovery.
Very interesting to just how broad the spectrum of "Ppruners" is.

Instructor Pilot & TRE/IRE - challenging; HEMS - humbling, we get all the glory but the doctors/paramedics are awesome; Law Enforcement- respect - you have to see it to believe it!; SAR - scary, how come we have to do the toughest of jobs with the oldest equipment?; VIP - interesting insight to the world of celebrity, Charter work with the 206 - great fun! - at least it was 20 years ago; Offshore - the daily grind no matter what the conditions - every penny earnt is thoroughly deserved,

Most Memorable flight - Has to be a toss-up between the day I was flying Saudi Sheik from London to Coventry in a 206. He was in the front seat and calmly drained the dregs of a half bottle of Scotch before sliding the window open and tossing the (glass) bottle out before I could even say "what the *******
" We were passing over a housing area next to Northolt at the time!or
the day we picked up a badly burnt baby from a campsite (gas expolsion in tent). The paramedic was cradling the babe in his arms in the seat next to me. I remember looking down at the squalling mite and thinking "if God ever had a purpose in mind when mankind created the helicopter then this was it". The combination of prompt action by the father (dowsed baby in cold water) swift transport to specialist Burns Centre and the skill of the hospital staff meant that no skin grafts were required. Babe made full recovery.
Very interesting to just how broad the spectrum of "Ppruners" is.
