CAA to FAA Licence Conversion

Anyone know what's involved in converting a CAA ATPL(H) to a FAA equivalent?

I've read this, but it suggests we have to take all the 'knowledge' exams and I've heard it's not as difficult as that.

Does anyone have practical experience?

Go to website faa.gov and look at verification of licences and it is all there with a form for you to print and complete. You will be referred to a CAA website and there you will probably draw a blank. I did last week. You will then have to tel licencing and endure the tel menu!!
