CHC or North Sea Drivers ?
400 Hz - Have you ever been taxed by the Norwegian Goverment? No I thought not ! And when your wages are taxed in the upper brackets of 50 - 60% then all you are counting is change and small coins. Oh and it is Coffee in the North Sea

Doesn't really matter. I have a few questions and I'm trying to get some input on what everybody is doing out there, as you guys have been at it for a good spell....
For starters, do you guys accept routing or load changes enroute or inner rig?

The real problem at the moment is getting all the old farts JAR certified, this has caused great stress on the current workload.
Most, if not all of the four ringers had to convert their old Norwegian licences into this new heap of JAR s**t.
So until everybody has been re-licensed there is a great manning problem.
The answer to your question is when you are not in control of the purse strings, i think it depends upon safety issues and descisions made on deck at that time.
There are always margins for such events to happen. Depends upon the captains and co/jo agreeing, and then stuff like fuel, weather and wether the rig has a good reputation for a tasty meal onboard
Maybe you should look to ask on the nordic forum too, there may be some useful knowledge there aswell. Me thinks the rest of the rotorheads are boning up for 8 million hours of JAR exams

Seal....shame ! Think if the increase in safety and professionalism that will be engendered by the old farts with all those thousands of accident free hours having to sit exams to prove they have the mettle to be commerical pilots. What were you thinking? (Plus....think of all the workover , overtime, time away from She who must be Obeyed, and free meals you get filling in for the dottering old fools!)

SASless - Ohhhh.....hit a nerve did I...Sorry mate, don't take it personal.
I was just trying to point out (a little sarcastically) that i think that all the old four ringers who kept the operation going without any problems before JAR took over, are now thinking, why the hell sould we have to sit loads of exams etc, because of a load of stoned officials in Holland decided to create their own little flying club...up there.....in the sky some where....where? And the more stoned they got, the more ridiculous the JAR-FCL regs became
I am not being dismissive of their skills as old "shagged" out pilots (like you......maybe....just old and wise ), just making my view known that i think it is silly to try and fix something that aint broke
Maybe the cause for alarm, is that with out those "dottering old fools" helping the up and coming co/jos getting their experience there would maybe more accidents in the sky than there is already
But after all the over time and yummy rig food and time away from the lovely wife ( maybe yours frightens the hell out of you.....?), you can only fly so much any way legally.
( I am waiting for the rendition about back in the days of leonardo da vinci, you had already done 26,000 TT flying all the rigs from Labrador to the gulf of mexico... )
