Heavy collective!

Hi Gang!

Question to the Tech-Specialists, if possible please in laymens terms (expressions?...):

What would, in general, be the reason, for a heavy collective on a helicopter without power assist on it (like the first gen R-44).
It was well balanced before. After an unavoidable intercourse with an umbrella!! a new set of M/R blades where called for. After installation, track and balance it runs smooth but now with a very heavy collective. There is a spring to adjust this, but it is at its max already. Any ideas/suggestions?

Cool

Only a guess but maybe a poorly adjusted collective friction. Not too sure about the mechanism but perhaps when it's off it's still on a bit.

Yea Sierra-Papa!!

you know the outfit I work for (still...), and you wonder??

No it is not the friction, but it was some slight missrigging. It is still not perfect, but better....

THanks for the inputs!!!

Hey there, check the rigging of the carb heat, as it is part of the collective control. I can't remember if the earlier R44's had the carb heat assist but the newer ones can have the assist so tight that you can feel it in the collective. Watch out, if the assist is too tight the collective can rise when you push the carb heat in getting ready for take-off.
