Thanks Ned. Man that Cobra is cool! I was told that they had 214 running gear in them? If true they would make a good bucket machine on a fire.

Day 1: I saw the Thales H125, is that the one with the new autopilot in it?

Day 2: What is the H125 with the Airbus and Safran decals on it?

A quick search and wikipedia rushes to our aid.

Common Nicknames and Variants:
  • Black Hawk: The standard U.S. Army designation.
  • Seahawk (or Sea Hawk): The U.S. Navy variant (SH-60/MH-60).
  • 60: Common shorthand used by crews.
  • Mike Model: Refers specifically to the UH-60M variant.
  • Romeo: Refers specifically to the MH-60R variant.
  • Pave Hawk: Used for the USAF HH-60 special operations variant.
  • Jayhawk: Used for the USCG HH-60 variant.
  • Gunhawk: Refers to armed versions of the helicopter.
The helicopter is part of the Sikorsky S-70 family and is named after the Sauk Native American leader Black Hawk.

There are probably some other unflattering nicknames used when it doesn’t perform as expected or a vital part stops working in an inconvenient location.

One of the RCMP’s acquired Black Hawk helicopters rests in an aircraft hangar. RCMP/X Photo
