There is nothing wrong with changing the identities of patients nor of producing fiction provided it is clearly stated it is fiction. What she has done creates no libel as she has not mentioned the operator nor pilots but I note she is registered with the GMC who would take a dim view of fiction if she has made up patients and histories and presented them as facts.

What first failed my sniff test was that I read the article and thought little of it made sense. I didn't recognise the accident described. Fine, it's clearly made up to illustrate a point.

But then it's littered with annotations and the statement "*All names have been changed". This changes the emphasis completely. We all know that patient confidentiality is paramount, but not if they are made up people in a made up story! The annotation is a clear misdirection and should be called out.

The early comments below the article all all the usual ' I think helicopters are dangerous etc etc'. It's interesting to note the change once doubt is cast on the legitimacy of the content.
