A "feature" of the Notar is that when doing an EOL the coanda effect on the boom still works when you pull pitch at the bottom and they will turn left. As the RRPM decreases and the fan slows down it is nearly impossible to get it back straight unless you are aware of what will happen and lead with right pedal. If not you will touchdown with left yaw and if any forward speed they will probably tip over on their right side.
Operated and maintained one for a while and can't really remember anything that it did very well.
~. 83 built and ~ 40% are either W/O are defunct. Possibly the "Edsel" of the helicopter world?

Don’t suppose this was one of our ‘influencers’ ?
If it was there would be some video and commentary on how to complete the exercise !

The question will be, why did the engine fail as they don't fail very often unless of course poor maintenance, fuel starvation or the such like for example.
