Money and connections....and no competition is not an altogether bad situation to be in...combined with AirBus eyeing associated business opportunities for other product lines.
Are the Saudi's still using the FAA system for Operations and licensing?

All 3 big operators in the kingdom seem to be transitioning to GACA licensing. ( which at the moment is a cut and paste from FAA part 61, but apparently there is a move towards mirroring the EASA requirements instead.)

Not for the first time, I'm late to the party. Has the ad disappeared from www.helijobs.net?

Yeah. I worked for Aramco when Aramco operated the show exclusively. They split off the aviation operation as a separate entity but as far as I know it still comes under the Aramco banner.
It was a good company to work for. Top rate equipment and facilities. Living in Saudi Arabia has its challenges but if you're adaptable you'll survive. They used to take your passport off you when you arrived, I'm not sure they do that any more. In any event you couldn't leave the Kingdom without an exit visa. It is very hot in summer. Expect 50 degrees. I'd go back to work for them.
