AW139 Vs AW189

Are there similarities in terms of compatibilities between the two. I’m referring to pilot/training issues and not the obvious mechanical differences (I.e. engines, seating, etc.). Airbus has similarities between the 319, 319, 320 and 321. My client is discussing purchasing AW189s and they already operate 139s

Myassisgrass,

Look at the OSD for both aircraft. If any cross credit is available for training or checking then it will be detailed in there.

I have a copy of the AW189 OSD (issue Oct 2019 rev D) and the MDR levels listed in there are E/E/E for pilots converting from AW139-AW189.
I know that Leonardo used to do specific AW189 TR courses for AW139 rated pilots, they more than likely still do but better to ask them directly. If I remember correctly it was about a 30% reduction in ground & sim training compared with a full TR.
