Sea King and Wessex

Just seen a yellow Seaking and Wessex (green with red bands round the nose and tail pylon) flying in trail past Trowbridge. Real treat during the morning dog walk!

It's a Navy Wessex, Mk5 in RN SAR colours Your misty eyes deceived you

That and the Yellow Sea King are from Historic Helicopters in Chard on their way to RIAT

At one stage they were indeed green with red bands, it was a temporary measure when we first received the Mk5 from the Junglies onto 771 at Culdrose. They were then gradually changed to the standard scheme over following months.
That one is XT761. I scrambled 6 times in her, including an eight hour "shout" to SKOPELOS SKY for which we received the Hellenic Nautical Medal 1st Class.
The full story is the free sample chapter here : Rescue Pilot: Cheating the Sea by Bloomsbury Publishing - Issuu
Thanks so much to all the team at Historic for keeping her alive, she'll probably outlast me now!

You would have thought they would have kept the water boiler.

Except the paper got the date wrong - it is 13 Aug - and all the aircraft are airworthy not glamping pods

Probably better than having to wander across the campsite to the communal ablutions!

Much more amusing to tell people it was a speech tube to talk to the crewman with emphasis on getting your mouth really close to shout down it...
