Agree with SASless Duxford was great, so too was Redhill.

Have just looked at the website and on the page how to get there, it mentions by air..... go to Heathrow or Gatwick.

For private flights it says check back later ???

So have they decided if helicopter owners can visit direct to Farnborough ?

On the website it also says they will have their own helipad foir visitors and demo flights.
The BHA who organise it are based at Fairoaks so why not have it there?

I would imagine they'll use the area south of the boundary fence (which is leased to Farnborough International) and near to the exhibition hall rather than the main airfield (unless they want to use the ILS).
There's a large oval parking area on disused Taxiway 'G' we used to call 'The Pit' ('cos it was where weapons were loaded) which would be suitable; I used it back in the '70s for circuits in a Wessex with OC Flying as my instructor. It's big enough for a C5 Galaxy.

How much is a landing fee for a helicopter at Farnborough ?

In the days of Duxford, some days 80 to 100 helicopters arrived and additional demo flights. If that happens at Farnborough are Reed really going to stump up that much ? Possibly a limit will be placed on how many arrivals each day ?

Is anyone intending to visit or exhibit? There are no OEM’s present, only one helicopter operator exhibiting, nearly 50% of the floor space still not sold and no static aircraft from what I can see.

212man Yes I did read the post above mine which did'nt tell me how much the landing fees will cost Reed each time a helicopter lands. If like I say 100 visitors want to arrive that could cost Reed thousands ?

The whole event sounds like a waste of time. As the post above from Chris P Bacon (Yes I did read it) suggests no static helicopters ? if you like to see helicopters like me I will not be going. I just cannot be bothered travelling that far just to see various bits of tech without the Heli part. Maybe they should call it Tech International 2019.

Are you traveling all the way from Nigeria ?

Not many heli’s going as the landing is free but you need 20 million liability insurance not many private owners will pay for the extra insurance

According to their press releases it was the biggest and best so far - setting the bar very high with a "fantastic atmosphere"

Anyone go and actually have a real world opinion on the first day.

I did not go, but from what I hear very few actual helicopters there and I certainly cannot find any photos of them, apart from one of the few visitors, only two I think noted so far. There was probably lots of tech on display if that's what you are into ? They are not making it easy for visitors. Bring back Duxford or even Welitech, Redhill

Speaking to folk here at the show,

1) I gather IWM does not want Helitech back...

2) The reason behind sans OEM backing and presence it is that the organisers and the major OEMs had a falling out over the last year..

3) Next years venue in Europe is TBT AND it may revert to be named as Helitech.

Cheers

What a lame show!
Tumbleweed blowing through the aisles.
Disgruntled exhibitors. If this was a horse, you'd put it out of its misery.

Of course, day 2 might be better...
