Aircrew Card

Greetings all, there is a new AIRCREW Card on the block, International Flight crew Register, which can be used to get aircrew discounts (search Aircrew Card on You Tube) and this seems less expensive for membership than others. I want to use the card for private flying without using my employers ID. Has anyone got any experience or discounts with this?

Sorry, this sounds a lot like spam.

New poster, and having just searched YouTube (why YouTube? Why not provide a direct link to a website), the only video that comes up in regard to the flight crew register shows 9 views as I type this and has only been posted today.
The website, very amateurish and made in Wordpress, wants to charge you 28.50 GBP (yearly) to sign up/get a card. It doesn't ask for an employee ID, and why ask for a discount if it's the cheapest out there (FYI a real aircrew card is free from your employer, or included in an AOPA membership, last time I checked)

Also not sure if hotels and other discount providers will accept the card, probably cheaper to just make one up yourself.

Why would anyone expect to get a discount for being aircrew (with salaries in probably the top 96 percentile)? Even less so for flying privately. Any discounts available will arise from an employer negotiating preferential rates based on volume and will be unrelated to the employees being aircrew per se.

Hi Torque, I didn't provide a URL to their site as I am new on here and most forums don't allow you to post web addresses. I also don't want to use my work A/C card for private purposes as the T&C's appear to prohibit this. I had an AOPA card for many years and have got a lot of discounts with it, but you now have to join for two years to get the A/C card, and its expensive. I do see your point though

It's the same discounts that apply to all airline employees and just about everyone in the travel industry, not only aimed at pilots. They can be booked by anyone, but ID will be checked (and a pilot license alone probably won't work). Some codes I got to know after jumping from helicopters to the airlines are Marriott: TVL, Hilton: AL, Hyatt: TIRT. They exist for the same reason ID90 or IDZE tickets exist, and can provide significant discounts (and an ego-boost to a certain breed of airline pilot)

I still think the above post is spam/fraud though, and after paying a fee all you will get is a 'fake' aircrew card that you could have printed and laminated at home yourself. I highly doubt the major hotels will accept these IDs that also are available for UAV, UAS, and Drone pilots as per the website.

PS: After leaving one of the offshore majors a couple years back I just recently started for a European airline...top 96%ile it certainly is not for the time being *lol*
