Helitech 2017
As if the move from Helitech from Duxford to ExCel in London was not bad enough it seems the the Management Team at ExCel are hell bend on making their venue unsupportable.
I was there today visiting a security show and found that the on-site car parking has been hit by hyperinflation during a period when there is no inflation.
Last Helitech I seems to recall it being £15 a day to park and last time there it had crept up to £16. None of which excuses the sudden leap to £20 I found today. What are they thinking? A 25% hike in rates during a period of low inflation?
For exhibitors it is a hidden tax [I recall parking at Duxford was free] and exorbitant for them and for multiple visitors.
I have asked both Helitech and the Management team for a comment. No replies yet.

well a complete waste of my time last one at Excel so doubtless this one will be the same. A day to miss unfortunately. Used to really look forward when they were at Redhill and then at Duxford. Certainly nearly everyone I know in the industry can't be bothered with driving to The Excel

Having been a regular I went to the first one at the Excel. Had to stay the night in London, used the tube and DLR each way etc. Total cost was about four times as much.
Last time I'll go until it relocates somewhere sensible.

having been a regular at Helitech for a few years ( Excel and Amsterdam), I decided not to go this year for 2 reasons.
1. the logistics for me this year ( time away from work ect ) does not warrant reason number 2.
2. The expense of going is to great. hotels, flights, rental car, food ect. is unjustifiable. I get that most of the CEOs do not want to stay at a holiday inn or Travelodge. but for small business owners and individuals interested in whats going on in the industry the cost is becoming to great.
Am I attending Amsterdam or where ever it will be held next year... we will see.

I have never set foot in a Helitech event since its move from Duxford and never will.
I went to every Redhill and Duxford show knowing there would be a display of static helicopters from most major manufacturers, demo flights and a wonderful selection of visiting helicopters.
Come on move it back to Duxford or somewhere that owners can fly their machines to. Just a complete waste of time in London.

Dunno, but just guessing here....I doubt the organisers will be that bothered about "potential punters" who won't cough up a few quid to attend an event where bigger money is at stake?
I'd have thought they're after sales of helicopters/parts/servicing rather than entertaining folk who are unlikely to buy/hire services?
Shoot me down if you like, but surely it's a simple case of economics?
Those who can will/may, those who can't probably won't?

Helitech 2017
It is upon us once again in just over a week, so hopefully there be a good turn out.
I am hoping that they will have more a/c than just the four present at Amsterdam last year!

I went to redhill and duxford every year I bought a new M.D. and also a Enstrom 480 and a gazelle
And lots of parts for maintaince.
Apart from one aircraft distributor there I am not the sort of customer that is made to feel welcome.
if I visit the Airbus/AW /Bell stand As I don’t want to buy 10 pieces or work for a organisation that has multiple aircraft and I feel I am upsetting their party atmosphere by asking about a new aircraft (if I can get anyone to speak to me on the stand )
Duxford/redhill was good you could fly in ,look at lots of different kinds of helicopters and products
Nearest thing to that is going to the states for H.A.I now that’s how to do a helicopter show we seem to be missing the point in the Uk .

Not just Helitech this year
Just a couple of weeks now and the first week of October Helitech International returns to ExCeL London for 3 days of meetings.
But it is not quite alone this year.
Just down the corridor is an event focused on commercial aviation maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO), Aviation Week Network's MRO Europe Conference and Exhibition, is heralded as the industry’s largest event in the region.
The dates coincided a few years ago to the favour of both events but exhibitors were then in both halls at the same time.
Among the exhibitors list are names with links to the helicopter market, names you might expect to find at Heli-Expo including BAE Systems, Boeing, BP, Diehl Aerosystems, Donaldson, Eaton, GKN, Honeywell …etc. Without going to the trouble of comparing the exhibitor lists side by side ... how many of those exhibitors might have been in the Helitech hall if the two events were not on at the same time and venue? MRO appears to offer more exhibitors and a larger event so there must be a danger that some of the exhibitors that support Helitech could be turned off attending.
At least having both events co-located might make the helicopter event more attendable....

Just found out Airbus bringing , H125, H135, H145 EMS, H175 and H160 mock up

If you haven't been yet,don't bother. Poor lineup, poor attendance on first day and show smaller than ever. Kudos to Airbus tho for bringing Super Puma...pity Unite HQ didn't come and have a flight to allay offshore workers fears.Lovely day for a trip down the Thames to see London landmarks.
