EASA to Australian CPL IR
Hey guys,
I´ve searched in the previous treats but could not find any information regarding the EASA to Australian conversion. I know most of people have the interest of converting from/to FAA from/to EASA, but I am currently EASA CPLH and I also have the ANAC (Brazil) ATPLH/IR and would like to understand how difficult it could be a conversion to Australia.
If someone could give me some information based on experience to make this conversion, I would be very thankful.
I´ve been reading the casa website but would like to know in practice how is the procedure, especially for no australian citizens (Italian/Brazilian)
Thank you in advance.
Regards

Don't they have a immigration program, I believe it's called "skilled position" where we can get the rights to work there? Is it that complicated? How is the acceptance of foreigners in Australia working as a pilot...?

patatas,
i think that you will find that the "skill" that you have is not needed in Oz. there are far too many unemployed pilots in Oz, and if they ever run out then there will be a sudden rush from NZ, where we have even more unemployed pilots, and the right to work in Oz without asking...
I think that you will have as much trouble getting a right to work as foreigners have trying to work in Brazil!

My mistake then... I had the impression the Australian market was in need of helicopter pilot for offshore and SAR by the looks of some job offers over the internet... I know how the helicopter industry is suffering due to oil prices worldwide but since I am far away from Australia market right now, I had this wrong impression... Maybe keeping focused on Europe could be a better bet... Thanks anyway

Unfortunately, NZ and Oz have been hit like the rest of the world, and quite a few guys have lost their jobs, including layoffs from Offshore operators...
Australia is a great place to live though, just don't let anyone from NZ hear me say that. I'm just too scared of all the things over there that can kill you...

The other week I looked for a friend in ABZ who asked the same question in here is a summary of what I told him.
Helicopter pilot is on the skills list so you can apply, the new system however won't give you the visa unless they allow it. In the past you could get the visa with no work to go to as long as your occupation is on the list. Working in Australia
AFT is the place to go for study books etc and to ask the question of how to convert as that is their occupation, flying school.
There are Line and SAR pilots out of work here at the moment and the short term prospects are prob like that, long term however Australia is a wonderful place to be.
It takes considerable time to go through the process so if you are sure you want to try get it all moving. It took us 3 years from buying the books to self study at home till we actually set foot in Perth to start our new life.
Good luck

Nice to know it's possible. I know the change over will take me some time and I am in the very beginning of the process, so hopefully the market will be different by then...
Brazil is not so bad right now but I am looking after better quality life for my family... Probably move over to Europe some place and eventually down under. Just looking for the right move in Europe to make the change... Europe not so good I know but let's give it a try... Thank you all for the answers...
