CHC Closes Bergen Base
CHC Helicopter Closes Norwegian Base
CHC Helicopter Closes Norwegian Base 17 Jan, 17, Source: HeliHub.com
CHC has had to close down their base in Bergen, Norway after losing the contract with Statoil to Bristow. The resulting closure will leave 100 workers unemployed, reports Offshore Energy Today. Statoil has stated that after April last year, when a CHC-operated Super Puma crashed and killed all on board, they would never use Super Puma helicopters again.

The news services carry "breaking news" for days on end. I do not read every section of this forum so missed that information reported that long time ago day of 13 Jan. That is only 5 days ago.
No worries, let folks post news as they see fit. OK, digging up things from years ago is a bit lame, but current events are just that.
Stay cool folks.

I have heard from sources in the far East that the last CHC Global Pilot in Thailand finished his final day today.
Estimates vary, but there seem to be only 30 (+/-) pilots left in CHC Global, which is below the critical mass required for a union AFAIK (affiliated group - maybe.) It may be the case, that there are now actually more people employed in HR than there are flying helicopters in that group.
How many Global bases are left? One? Two? Hardly a circumstance worthy of the term "Global"
Absorption of Global, and re-branding cannot be far away. Best of luck to the remaining Hummingbirds.

I believe they are down to 2 bases. Malabo and Atyrau, although Kaz is crew only, no a/c. They recently had someone quit in Kaz and had not one pilot available to replace him, all laid off and the ones on the recall list are no longer current enough to fly the contract.
I'm surprised the ground seems undisturbed at Craig's grave site with all the rolling around he must be doing......

Innleadair:
the aircraft are stored there because TAS have there own aircraft now and are severing there ties with CHC.
CHC should exit Chap 11 by Feb 28 if all goes to plan.
