Isles of Scillys heli link

Today way down west the local press (pasty FM) reported adeal is to be announced regarding the reopening of the heli link to the Isles of Scilly within the next few weeks.

The local MP says a regular helicopter route will be back in operation, has any one any idea who??

It seems unlikely that its BIH or Castle Air so who's coming down west? Is PAS going to sweep the board and get this to go with Trinity and the EMS???

Not sure about P/porth, I would have thought the GA guys would oppose that but strange things happen down here.

St Just (Lands End Airport) is looking to get a firm runway as the rain has closed the runway to the fixed winged traffic.

Newquay is growing and fast, if they could run a service straight off the FlyBe/Easy jet inks it would make more sense, still the DOC's might rule this out.

Lets wait and see then who puts assets into the west.

If it's anything to do with the Isles of Scilly Steamship Company, they be using Bell 47s out of the car park by Albert Quay.

Told you;

Was in Reykjavik at the weekend and saw the latest Skybus Twotter pass through enroute from Calgary to Cornwall. I won't say new (as Skybus do) as it appears it was built in 1977! G-ISSG is the reg.

Their plan apparently is to operate many more flights from Exeter (up to 5 a day in high season), the thinking being that that's were the fast road and rail links to the southwest end, and that the 1 hour flight in a Twotter from there is preferable to the long drive/train journey through Devon and Cornwall.

They might have a point, and I guess there might be limited opportunities to transfer at EXT from UK and European Flybe Ops.
