Anyone got any details on the Hevilift Mil8 crash in Indo?
Heard its going to be a sling load job back to Hagen.
And the 212 crash near Tari first report was no injuries now I hear maybe a broken back for the pilot?

I heard a badly sprained back for the pilot and he was going for cat-scan. Not sure of the condition of the other two crew but initial reports were badly tweaked backs all around.
That is a long haul from Timika to Mt. Hagen but other than putting it on a boat how else would you get it back for repair.

Expensive for the insurer I would expect....and I guess ultimately to the Company come the time to renew their hull loss insurance premiums. Especially being mindful this would be their 3rd big $$$ claim in the last year (given it looks like the Tari B212 heavy landing might be a write-off...).
Steve76,
Everyone got out ok, the bloke in the rear seat told me he went to open the emergency exit once they were down & the handle came off in his hand, so they all filed out the front door in an orderly fashion. Best result for a bad situation.
