212man,
The gents I was sharing a beer or two with the other night also made mention of this T/R gearbox story. Again, I wasn't sure if they were taking the but it turns out that it is in fact all true.
Has anyone got any detail regarding this incident? Am very interested to find out more.
Cheers,
Papa68

Who is Captain Alan Rose
It has been said that Captain Alan Rose can start a Helicopter with his charisma, fuel it with his personality, and shut it down with his enormous------------------------knowledge of shutting down aircraft.

A pretty wild ride by all accounts.

Captain Rose is the real deal.
A man...no! He is no mere mortal, unlike the rest of us.
It wasn't Sully that landed the troubled A320 in the Hudson.
It wasn't Neil Armstrong who first walked on the moon.
And Chuck Yeager....'first man' to break the speed of sound...pfttt....what a sham!
No no! It was Captain Alan Rose.
And no. I didn't say I knew Alan Rose. I said he touched me on the shoulder once.

Hell of a first post, Ferrantiflyer!
I went to school with a Rose in the 1980s whose father operated Jayrow. We used to spend many hours of our childhood down at the old pontoon helipad on the Yarra.
Memories of a black Squirrel with rainbow colours on it...
