Who is Captain Alan Rose?
I keep hearing about a Captain Alan Rose who apparently is quite famous in Australia.
Does anyone have any information about him? Cheers, Papa68:) |
I have heard of him indeed famous flies for one of the major offshore operators for many years.
Cheers, Hookesjoint |
Son of one of the Rose brothers who started Jayrow.

"who apparently is quite famous in Australia"
And rightly so... a pilot held in the very highest regard by his peers.
A career spanning decades and continents, a leader in CRM dedicated to improving flight safety..... the most reassuring sound in the world is Captain Alan Rose on the Job.:D |
He is quiet famous indeed. I have even had passengers tell me they know of Alan Rose!
|
Famous yes, but nothing to do with the Jayrow Rose family.

No news about him either on the net??
i was trying to know a bit more about him! :ugh: |
There's those who know, and there's those who don't.
You don't find out about a man of Capt Rose's calibre from Google! P1 |

I have stood so close to this aviation demigod that I could smell his musk, I breathed in deeply my friend, very deeply. 206LD |
Wow!
It seems this Captain Alan Rose is the real deal - famous indeed! When I first heard of him I must admit I thought the whole thing was a little suss as the pilot chaps I was talking to kept going on about him. As I hadn't heard of him I didn't want to pipe up and sound foolish. But it does appear he's been around a bit. A couple of years ago, I had the good fortune to meet one Nick Lappos and found him to be both very interesting but perhaps more importantly, extremely modest given his reputation within the industry. Given that positive experience, I'd love to meet Captain Alan Rose and pick his brain about all things helicopter related. Anyone know where to find him? Papa 68:O |

Hey, Papa68, you don't talk to Capt Rose or pick his brain. You listen to him. The man's enlarged my mind. He's a poet pilot in the classic sense. I mean sometimes he'll... uh... well, you'll say"hello" to him, right? And he'll just walk right by you. He won't even notice you. And suddenly he'll grab you, and he'll throw you in a corner, and he'll say, "Do you know that 'if' is the middle word in life? If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs and blaming it on you,if you can trust yourself when all men doubt you"... I mean I'm... no, I can't... I'm a little man, I'm a little man, he's... he's a great man! I should have been a pair of ragged claws scuttling across floors of silent seas...

I have worked with a blonde little fella from uppervolta, who had a cute red VW Beetle convertible, he did not know him either, nor did his mother! |
I don't quite know what to say about that last post from 206LDriver except...
Wow! :D Papa68 |
Mmmm ...
No idea about Alan Rose ... but I knew a 'Des Rose' in Darwin yrs ago ... (also no relation to the Jayrow Rose's) but he did work for them !! :ooh: |
206L - I could almost see Dennis Hopper :-)

Is this the same Alan Rose who flew with Bristow? He had a T/R gearbox failure in a 330J in the late '80s which is an interesting tale to listen to!

s this the same Alan Rose who flew with Bristow? |
We've been looking for Alan for a long time. |
I have even had passengers tell me they know of Alan Rose! I had a policy to never let a passenger down, well, not with too much of a bump. Is that in the same vein? bump |
