Is there an app for ipad, similar to Skydemon but supports geocoding? It's a problem doing ems and similar activities without geocoding.

hi phoinix, what do you mean with the word geocoding? In skydemon you can add a waypoint in flight mode very easy by just tapping on any area and then you can set the coordinates.

I think he wants to put a street address into his flight nav.

Yes, address. Skydemon offers that too, but it's not very user friendly.

Huh, pretty cool. I didn't realise they integrated that function with the satellite map.
Maybe you want to write them in their forum and ask them to make the function more accessible. They seem to be very keen to listen to customer feedback and improve.

I use Runway HD on the ipad mini, excellent app, I also use the Gyronimo apps for R44, again very useful tool. I have used SkyDemon and I like the fact there is a PC version you can plan on then open the plan on the ipad.

I use the Bad Elf Lightening Connect GPS on the iPad, its very good and seems to provide excellent accuracy.

Just had a brief chat with an air ambulance pilot who quickly showed me the nav software they use on the iPad similar to SkyDemon, but this updated with the latest wires information. Unfortunately I have forgotten the name of it, would anyone know what it is, he thought it was likely more expensive than SkyDemon.

I suspect that he was using Runway HD (or the more corporate version, airbox panda). I have been using Runway HD for the last couple of years, I bought an Ipad mini just so I could use that one app! I can highly recommend it👍!

It would be ACANS (formerly known as PANDA) - Mission support systems for air and ground users

Yup that appears to be the one, thank you. Imagine expensive and not available to all & sundry, pleased HEMS have it, wonder whether the wires data might be something SkyDemon can subscribe to and include.

"ACANS gives access to power line, low level obstruction, high accuracy terrain and many other information sources to keep you safe at low level. Users can even add and share newly identified low level dangers with each other, ensuring that everyone always has the latest, best information."

What apps do you currently use? The SkyDemon W&B section is really good and easy to customise to your particular machine (or machines). You just recreate the acceptable envelope from the POH and add the various stations.

Does the SD app support W&B both in longitudonal and lateral direction?

Well, SD is a yearly subscription - while gyronymo is only one payment- depending on the aircraft from around 30 up to nearly 80€ for the rare ones...

Runway HD. So simple you'd think it was designed for Americans/Australians/the RAF/glider pilots (insert your own foil here).

This is true, depends what you'd use it for. SD, as well as being a brilliant (IMO) nav app, will also deliver real-time (with 4G) weather, NOTAMs, circuit patterns etc.

Compared to the extremely expensive Garmin 750 I fitted in our panel, SD is more intuitive, more feature rich, much better suited to VFR ops and a damned sight cheaper.

I don't work for SD by the way...

As RunwayHD app is being retired/withdrawn soon....are there any other ipad apps that can be used to view OS maps and/or satelite images when in flight?
