Bristow Sumburgh - End Of An Era
Hi Bob, great to hear from another of the original Sumburgh crew. The old Quendale school is still standing, in fact looking very nice - I drove by a couple of weeks ago when I was home. Hope everything is going well for you.

Fire course, Stansted.
I've been following this and the main Bristow thread for a while. Time to jump on board. Fantastic to see so many old (very old) faces and reminders of amazing and crazy times, especially the 70's. A no-go area for modern health and safety! Some of the Skyweaver shots are mine but I'll scan what I have and get them up.

Probably the "Final" Pictures of G-BDOC
Here's a few pictures shot in Aberdeen recently, pictures of G-BDOC in storage in the old Heavy Hangar on the day that she was sold to Carson.
Looks like the old girl will hopefully have a new life (a full Carson refit is just what she deserves !), would be nice if someone can keep us updated with pictures of S/N 61765 wherever she ends up.

OC over the sea (and far away!)
Pictured at Seaforth Docks 3rd September 2010 (Pics by Mr Airbus)
The last sighting of G-BDOC, now removed from the British Register. Someone caused havoc amongst the spotting fraternity by altering the registration on the side (but we know what it REALLY was )
Bye Bye Oscar Charlie and good luck in your new "life"

Great photos bringing back memories.
I remember being detached there in 1973 and living in Scalloway with an interesting car ride to and from Sumburgh Airport.
Do you remember the Viscounts? - or even the DC3's? Was it Skyways?
Looking at my first SAR report, I remember the Captain of the NS S76 was Ashley Llewellyn-Thomas (RIP) who tragically lost his life in CFIT in China

John,
I flew 91V with Ash Thomas on many occasions to the Heather Alpha and he was great company to be with for the 4 and a half hours it took to trot up there and back to ABZ. He is still sadly missed by many who had the pleasure of flying with him, RIP.
