Techical: Rotor Head Design

I am curious about the general and subtle differences between the various types of rotor heads: rigid, semi-articulated and fully-articulated. (Let's just leave teetering to a past life.)

In particular, which heads are best suited for different types of manoeuvres such as slope landings, deck landings, evasive manoeuvring etc? How do the flying techniques differ?

Can anyone point me to a good online source or do I have to shell out for one of Prouty's seminal works?
