Stroke of Luck

Just heard on ABC news that a EMS helicopter crashed today on the roof of a hospital in Michigan. Apparently it went down whilst practicing approach and landings onto the Hospital roof heli-pad. The pilot and passenger escaped with minor injuries, and were treated in the said hospital!!

It was an S76C++ with pilot and FAA Observer/Examiner on board apparently. They were, as you say, conducting practice approaches to the rooftop helipad with a view to obtaining operating clearance. Investigations are not concentrating on the aircraft at this stage. I guess they may have to re apply now!
