Any ideas on where I can go for an JAR EC130 Type rating? Eurocopter are currently quoting a ridiculous figure so looking for other options. Thanks

notar,

Edited to add: The CAA site is now back up. There is only 1 EC130 on the G reg: G-ECBO. You should be able to contact the owner/operator via their contact details and they might be able to help. (From a Google search, G-ECBO would appear to based in the Midlands, maybe around The Belfry.)

Failing that, your next best option, I guess, would be in Ireland somewhere. Otherwise, how's your French?

If you can't take a joke, ASV, I suggest that you try using Google before asking daft questions...

But, if you're really good, here's the answer: Joint Aviation Requirement

ok what is a JAR Type rating ???

From what's been posted so far, it can be gleaned that it would be a Joint Aviation Requirement Type Rating required to fly in places where aviation is regulated by Joint Aviation Authorities.

The missing pieces of information are:-

1. Type Rating = a rating to fly a particular type of aircraft.
2. JAA = Europe and affiliated regions.

widgeon, it's obvious...

It means that only junior officers that can properly undertake secretarial work are allowed to be an insect in certain aircraft.
