through the NVG.
How did that happen as light doesn't pass "through" NVGs?

As it's a second hand story MG, perhaps hueyracer meant to say;
'...caught him during night low level flying (in the military) from under the NVG..'

I have not been in the cockpit with him...but i guess that´s how it happened...

He said that he caught a very bright light on his right (?) goggle, then saw nothing anymore on his right eye....

His eyes started watering, making him unable to read any of the instruments in the cockpit, so the copilot had to take over, safely landing the aircraft at the home base a few minutes later...

I guess it would be interesting to see the physics of a laser beam into goggles, but certainly no retinal damage I suspect due to the manufacturing safety tolerances of the output picture.

Hi SilsoeSid,

You are as so far right, that a Laser won't go through a NVG.

BUTT the NVG isn't covering the eye completly, so enough space left for a direct hit of the retina!

Makes you wonder why so many people have gone to a protest with a laser pen in their pocket!
Could it be that they were expecting to be asked give a keynote/ppt presentation about why they were protesting ?
