Has anyone successfuly organised a landing at NWP HQ in Colwyn Bay? I fancy trying it on my nav lessons.

If you have, how do you go about getting permission?

Not sure what the nwp hq is but you need to ask the place where you are going for permission you also need to check wether it is safe for your particular helicopter to land there ,
You also need to check that you are not breaking any aviation rules in landing there and you would need to check with your aircraft owner that they will allow off airfield landings whilst training ect

Also be aware of the public they need to be safe too

Landing site Beaminster, UK

Would anybody be able to suggest a landing site for an R44 near Beaminster (Dorset, UK) to pick up a passenger?

Have got the Shave Cross Inn about 5 miles to the West but would appreciate any suggestions for somewhere a bit closer to the town.

Google Earth is your friend when finding landing sites. I spend 40% of my time finding suitable landing sites and getting a contact.

Try Beaminster community sports hall on 01308 861911, they have a large sports field to the North.

Many thanks for that AV83R.

The school was very receptive to using their sports field - but in the end found a site just East of the town.

Manchester UK - landing sites & lunch

I plan to fly up from London to take a Manchester client out for lunch in the helicopter.

I’ve never landed anywhere near Manchester. Any suggestions on places to land or nice lunch flight locations in the area?

You're having lunch in the helicopter?

looking for a nice hotel or gastro pub ideally.

I'm normally up for a nice cheeseburger & chips place as I've already done the "fancy" part by landing in a helicopter.

I've landed at the Swan Hotel in the Lake District for lunch before, but not that familiar with area and short on other ideas.

Thinly veiled "I have a helicopter thread". Just wondering if I find garage space for my A380

Well when in the Peak District for loadlifting we stay in The Ramblers Inn in Edale.( about 10 mins by heli from Manchester )
In the winter we park the heli in the car park overnight if busy in the adjoining field. Ask for Steve or Wendy who run the place

Wifey and I stayed and ate at the Cavendish Hotel in the peak district about a month ago.

Very helicopter friendly, close to Chatsworth House and would be a lovely short flight from Barton if that's where you're picking up client from.

Highly recommend.

Hughes/Tobias/CRAN/600Driver,
Thanks for the suggestions; will have a look

AssClown (sorry CargoClown),
It’s a helicopter forum; many people here have helicopters. Besides, I can think of no other place on the internet that would yield less adulation with the inference of “Hey, I’ve got an R44” than here on PPrune.
