Floods and Flying

I would like to thank all those involved in SAR, ATC, Police, News Gathering and Survey flights over the Gloucester - Stratford areas over the last week.

It has been great that a number of different roles have been able to operate together in such a situation.

We are becoming very used to RAT's springing up at the drop of a hat (at times I agree they are required), but to have the opportunity to work together in such a way, I hope shows what could be achieved in the future.

The use of the common Scene of Search frequency alongside Gloucester's Approach frequency worked very well, providing good coverage about who was where and doing what, as well as an 'Understanding' about heights and, if the situation arose, sensitivity issues.

Until next time.....
