had someone inbound to class delta, call out ATIS information Jankie, the following aircraft inbound hearing this called in with Jackie, to which ATC, said

"to all helicopters in the area, it's J.U.L.I.E.T, get it right...."

I remember a friend of mine who went out to do his CPL(H) flight test in G-KEVN, and on asking for start up, with the FE sitting beside him, had an attack of nerves and couldnt remember what the phonetic for E was, so he ended up saying Golf Kilo Eskimo Victor November quite quickly, which thankfully for him ATC abbreviated to Golf Victor November, I thought that not only was that quite funny but he got full marks for quick thinking, the FE didnt notice and he passed the flight test!
BC.

Was pretty embarassed about it the first time (with an FI sat next to me) - remember feeling a lot happier when London info made the same mistake 10 minutes later

A friend and I were flying to Turweston the other day I was in a Squirell G NUTY and he was in a R44 G CCYT oh what fun we had, he started it with something like Tankee Wankee, as all on board roared with laughter at his mistake it was n't long till air traffic came in with twanko yanky I think at Lineham, it was tourture for me as the both of us strugled all afternoon with various variations on the theme it seemed the more we thought about the correct form the worse it got was I glad to land !!!!!!!!!

One of the greatly-copied but sadly departed members of the RAAF was airborne in a Hercules from Richmond. In the Dark Old Days, they used commercial callsigns, and this one was JLP.

Old Francois keyed the mike without planning his call first (how unusual...) and said,

"Sydney, this is Juliet Lima ........................................Pineapple!"

He is also famous for referring to Strathbogie as "that Boogie-Woogie place" as a position report.

Cool N1600z

There is an S300 CBi in Central Florida with the registration N1600Z which is not the time!......... but is always amusing when listening to pilots trying to master it's callsign!

C-FKLK always gave me fits as a student. the various combinations of incoherent syllabels (sp?) must have raised a few eyebrows. i still have trouble with it today.

Many years ago, I had a Trigraph "S0Z" (sierra zero zulu). My tongue was tired at the end of the sortie.
