Looking for an old B206 A
Hi Everyone, this is my first post and hopefully some of you guys may be able to help me. I am trying to track down an old B206 A Jet Ranger, it once belonged to my employers father who is hoping to find it for old times sake. It was reg in Ireland in Aug 1967 under EI-APP for 2 years and then cancelled 29-Apr-72, then shipped to Canada under the reg of CF-FKR its s/n was 0079. Does anyone have any infomation on its whereabouts, I know it was involved in a accident in Quebec in 1979 when operated by Iroquois Helicopters after this the trail just goes cold, no one has any record of it, I have emailed so many people, at this stage I feel like . If I could even find the data plate for it I would be happy, so any help would be truly grateful.

Much easier if you know someone that has a copy of Rotor Roster. Its a biggie. www.airtrack.com
Searches like this are fun and I love to try and find info on these things. Since your in Ireland, I will try and contact Bell helicopters and see if anyone there would know if any service has been done on that serial number lately.
Will take a few days to find the right person, Im sure.

Thanks guys, I would really appreciate all the help I can get on this one. Every lead I get just seams to be a dead end. The m/c could be lying in the corner of a workshop somewhere, stripped and forgot about.

The 2000 edition of Rotor Roster, based on material from 1998-99, does not show c/n 79 as being extant anywhere.
Rotor Roster is not perfect but the absence of that one being mentioned and your own knowledge of the accident does make the trail appear cold.

I have just talked to BHC Flight Safety and their latest was an incident with limited info on August 3/79, where while hovering, it contacted a hangar somewhere in Canada.
The FAA and Transport Canada registers do not bring up the registration or s/n in present or historical records.

Still checking with Bell, but I have a guess that its toast and has been for many years. Not on any American roster either.
If you can get some information on the last canadian company "Iroquis Helicopters"?? and if they are still in business I will see what I can do....
Also if you have some old photos and you want to make a model of the Helicopter. I have over the past few years done business with Fred Griffin at http://www.griffinaerospace.com/
I think that would be a real reminder . Fred does great work, I just ordered another one from him while at the HAI conference.

S/n 79 is not recorded with Bell as totally destroyed.
So ........ if you find at least the data plate you could rebuild it!
Going by the serial number and year of build it would have started life as a 206A.

Jed...Good one, now all we have to do is start in Canada with the last knowncompany. Maybe someone here has input into the CAA aircraft Reg up there and can get into the archives......Border left the last know reg number.

Dats da one. Now I wonder how old that register is. Obviously the Candaian reg. We have to make contact with someone who can get into the archives and dig out the history....

The whole plan is, if the m/c is distroyed, is to get the data plate and rebuild it. I have searched high and low in the Canadian Registar and I cannot make head nor tail of how to extract infomation for it. I emailed a lady Susan Parisen in the Canadian register and she could offer me very little help as there are little or no records of CF FKR. I was hoping that someone on Pprune might have had the pleasure of flying in it and that they would have had first hand knowledge of the wheres and whats of it.

FA, Interestingly the Transport Canada website has C-FFKR as a Mooney M20K registered 22-Dec-88!

In Canada, once an aircraft has been de-registered (destroyed, exported, change of registration) the "Call Sign" is free to be issued or requested for use. The registration can be reserved by submitting an annual application and fee. Otherwise the registration C-FFKR is public domain.

As far as I can see the a/c has just disapeared completly of any register, I think that it has been distroyed and no one has notified the CAA hence Bell has no record for any parts or certs.

So we have a world where there are lots of Bell 206 helicopters in various stages of preservation and the proposal is to rebuild a machine that we actually have very little information on... beyond a c/n and registration... F.K.R ... no images... 'employers father' ...
Hang on campers just be sure that something is not building up to the date on Sunday... border is a new poster...

I know what you are thinking 1st April, no joke lads. The said a/c was reg in Ireland as EI APP and belonged to a company called Irish Base Metal Ltd which was owned by my employers father, they also founded a company in Ireland called Tara Mines. He had another B206 Irish reg EI AYP s/n 1294 cancelled in 9 July 1975 shipped to Canada reg as C GOEV<FONT color=#000080> It was substantially damaged in an accident in 1986 in

If an aircraft is destroyed someone will know. Bell will then cover there behinds and notify the public that the serial number has been canceled. Therefore I believe that what ever happened to the machine it was not completely lost in one accident.
Thus I have two theories as to what has happened to the machine.
1. It is in a pile of bits in Canada.
2. It has left Canada and is possibly flying in a less developed country of the world.
