Chuks,

When one takes a measure of a man.....one should take a full measure. Thus far, it seems on balance the scale remains firmly grounded on the one side.

I feel I must rush to the defence of my old mucker Le Compte de Chandelier.
When he broke into my desk drawer when I was on leave, I am sure he was just making sure that the houseboy had not stolen anything.
The very sharp knife he had was not for stabbiing people in the back but was for defending his loyal employees against all the robbers around the area.
A finer upstanding aristo would be hard to find(ask some of the Warri girls he would pick up in the old VW).
Truly a fine merchant banker.

Valalta,

Ah you too saw Le Compte out cruising the less salubrious areas of Warri in his VW Amazon. Who remembers his flight when he was dropped off in Shell instead of Whisky Tango after picking up another pilot on Funiwa? Shell were most surprised to see a Topcon 212 arriving at the IA (as were the passengers!) and one always wondered if there was a connection between this and the police and army guys waiting at WT, with a local lady with a very yellow baby in her arms asking of Le Compte. I seem to remember that he arrived home many hours later with a navy escort and had a navy guard on his house for some time after. A more unpleasany, sleazbag it would be difficult to meet . I'm amazed he's not in a coffin filled with concrete somewhere on the seabed of the Bight of Biafra by now.

Aah, That Flight............

I was the guy who landed at WA to drop the Chief Pilot off for a hastily scheduled meeting arranged on the HF en route Funiwa-WT.

But this was a pressing operational matter, nothing to do with the lady, baby and police who were coincidentally waiting at WT. At least that's what he told me.............

The hardest part was explaining why I was single pilot left hand seat when I landed at WT !!

What is PB doing these days ?

anjuoan,

You HEARD ?? That's why this is a rumour network !! Spoke to another ex WT hand the other day and mentioned your post. He confirmed that the person in question was indeed dropped at WA more than once to avoid the long arm of the law.

So what you HEARD was right

Cheers,

NEO
