apb...

Thanks for the posting...I am going to use this as a video on what "NOT to do".

1. No need to hover hookup---the cable is long enough to reach.
2. No need for two guys under the aircraft
3. They forgot to pull out the "spreaders" for the opening---thereby rendering the bucket useless.

Any more?

Howsabout three? Also, isn't that line about 3 times too short

Nope...they are belly hooking. Certainly in the US, we either put it on the belly hook or a minimum 50ft, (typically 100 ft) line. This keeps it out of the tail rotor---either too short to reach as in the belly hook case, or with minimum 50ft the weight keeps it out.

Different agencies and/or pilots have different views on which is best. For example, CalFire does everything on the belly. USFS, DOI, BLM etc leave it to the pilot to decide most times.

YouTube embedding: update

With the upgrade to VB3.8 the option to embed a YouTube clip has added a simple cut and paste of the URL

Nothing else needed, just paste the URL into your post: but only for YouTube, other video hosts are currently not included.

I'd like to know if the starting sequence is for real... scary at least!

Aha, it's made a reappearance. IIRC, the first time that this vid appeared on here, it was pulled from you tube.

Blackhawks in Melbourne (CBD)

Australian Army Blackhawks were training in Melbourne (CBD) the last couple of days (and nights). Had some trouble with my tripod but i think it's still quite good to watch. Was a great show, right in front of my apartement

cheers
