Single Mom/Dad

Hi!

Are there any single Mom or Dad pilots there ?
How do you manage ? Do you drop off your child at grandma's ?

I might be getting into that situation, so inside views would be highly appreciated.

Thank you.
GG

From: Just over there....no there.
I am a single dad but unfortunatley my kids live with their Mother abroad. I've often thought about having them with me permenantly (which I'd love to do) but the logistics are a nightmare especially if you have no rellies in the area. Our job doesn't really accomodate kids especially if you're not on a roster or regular shift work, it's hard enough getting a partner who can cope with it!
It can be a problem organizing leave (booking flights early enough) to get them over here, not to mention the cost (there aren't many airlines that do UMs either so I have to fly over to get them which makes it really expensive)
An old friend of mine managed to do though for years until he got married again, it was always a hassle with school and child minders but he did it
