EASA STANDARD COFA
I was under the impression that a "star" annual was 3 years but on looking at the paperwork that has come back from a prospective helicopter purchase it appears to be 2 years. Can anyone clarify

You are correct that a Star Annual is every 3 years. However, the full effects of EASA come in on 29 September 2008. At this point you will need an EASA CofA with an Airworthiness Review Certificate (ARC). Thus the CAA have planned for all CofA's to expire between September 2007 and 2008, at which time ta new CofA with an ARC will be issued.
This gets very complicated , but that is the basics. You can actually apply for either a 1 yr or 2 yr CofA at this time.
