Question Going from Fixed wing to rotor?

Hi there.

At the moment I hold a PPL(A), but would really like to get a rotor licence. Can any one tell me if I would have to do all the ground school again, or just the relevent rotor parts? Also what are the flying requirements for a PPL(H)?

Take a look at the CAA website http://www.caa.co.uk. . .Specifically follow the links . .Safety Regulation, Personnel Licencing, Flight Crew Licencing, Licence Requirement Docs - Private Licences, Requirements for the grant of a JAR/FCL Private Pilots Licence (Helicopters). You'll find what you need under Parts 2 and 3

I did the same thing about 3 years ago, and just got in before JAR. However, I think the requirements are similar. I had to do 35 hours flight training (they let you off 5 hours as it is assumed you can navigate)plus the tech exam and the Human Performance as I had never done that one before. Other than that, the f/w ground school counts so you don't have to do all the Air Law and Nav & Met again. The big mistake I made was to budget on 35 hours at dual training rates - it actually took nearer 50, but after you have done 35 or so you can't stop there, can you?

Best thing I ever did. Go for it!
