Dear Mr. Boeing

Sikorsky, Bell and you are currently developing concepts for the Joint Heavy Lift (JHL) aircraft.

I have spent years and years weaning Sikorsky from their fixation on the dinky little tail fan. Finally they are seeing the light. It is doubtful that they will ever again attempt to introduce a new helicopter with a 'fandango-in-tail'. Sadly, Sikorsky has never acknowledged all my hard work and insulting remarks. There has never been a thank-you. Not even a small 7-digit check for all the concept consultation.

Well, I am not a spiteful person, but it is now payback time.

Boeing, you is da best. Sikorsky stole your belief in twin main-rotors; a rotor arraignment that you have nurtured for decades. They are using your beloved twin-rotors to compete against you in the (JHL) competition.

I would like to help you. Do you pay?

Here's my idea. You get revenge on Sikorsky by stealing their Advancing Blade Concept (ABC). By combining nothing more than the Advancing Blade Concept and the Interleaving Concept you will have the winner. You will have a craft that has identical rotors to Sikorsky's coaxial X2, but, at a much lower disk loading. A disk loading that will result in Bell's tilt-rotor and Sikorsky's coaxial being blown out of the competition.

Oh, by the way! This winning configuration comes about from only implementing Sikorsky's ABC. As Active Blade Twist and Higher Frequency Flight-controls advance, you also have the best configuration for optimizing the advantages of these new features.

There you are. Tomorrow's rotorcraft AND tomorrow's tomorrow's rotorcraft.

Blimey...

Cripes Dave,

I bet good money that somebody is going to knock on your door PDQ and hand you a big brown envelope. Don't expect it to contain a cheque......

Maybe you should address this to Mr. Piasecki?

I am sure Frank would love to hear your compliments on the designs he created, perfected and then sold to Boeing!

Hairyplane,

No problem. If the 'postman' looks suspicious he'll be shown the idea for a back-pack helicopter with tip jets.

If the "big brown envelope" contains the acknowledgment of a viable concept, then the intent to provoke technical thinking is good.

If the "big brown envelope" contains the acknowledgment of an extremely viable concept, then the big three had better do more than simply think.

If the "big brown envelope" contains a 'Request for Proposal' from the US Government, then the big three might consider that Bombardier is looking for a new aircraft to build.

If all three/four companies submit variants of an Interleaving ABC, then I'll be dammed.
