This years Christmas Present for Helicopter Fans
I just came across the present for all Rotorheads on a website for a south of England Aviation company based at shoreham....
The Helicopter Experience with Dennis Kenyon, a 1 hour DVD featuring his display flying. I guess this will be the nearest some of us will get to seeing the master at work now that he has retired (again !!)
Has any one seen this, and if so any comments.
I wonder if some people will get multiple copies from families and friends who want to buy something different to the normal Diary / Pilot Guides.

Are you sure that you're not the same jerry712731 who has filmed Dennis on multiple occasions, hosted his clips and was part of the production team on this DVD????? (see jerry's past posts)
If you aren't, then I apologise and it's one helluva coincidence.
Please promote this DVD as much as possible but the mods might have something to say about free advertising on PPRuNe. And remember, most of us Rotorheads didn't come down in the last shower....

But as Kevin says, it is a non profit deal with all the proceeds going to the Charity for the Helicopter Scholarship, which Dennis started following the tragic Helicopter accident that killed his son.
So if i the mods have an issue, I apologise, but it is for a genuine good Helicopter Cause..

DVD for Christmas.
Oh please don't get too excited chaps.
The DVD IS available from Transair, and just hope the mods will appreciate there is no commercial motive here. All sales ensure I can keep the scholarship going in the years ahead, or until I fall off my perch !!
The video features some of my best recent routines on Enstrom and Schweizer, then a terrific sequence by the Russian, Gari Georgov in his Mil 2 at Rouen, plus Carl Zarecky's superb Chinook display.
There's also a few daft asides. Pheasant formating with helicopter !!
SCHOLARSHIP NEWS.
The 2005 scholarship winner, Hannah Nobbs received her PPL(H) a couple of weeks ago. She joins Zoe Spain, (now ATC controller at Fairoaks Airport) Both are planning on climbing the difficult ladder to commercial.
My committee meet early next year to commence the selection of the 2006 candidate. Your siblings and family just need to be between 18 and 23 in calendar year 2006 and believe themselves to be capable of getting a class one medical and passing the CAA exams. We'll do the rest.

Thanks to all for the sensitivity regarding commercialization of Rotorheads, self-awareness is the finest way to assure that we maintain our site. Thanks Bravo for the pick-up!
That being said, The only slightest admonishment goes to jerry712731 for the too-smart way he introduced the subject ("I just came across...."). Its as if that Vegamatic guy "just came across" his slicer-dicer!

With due respect to all, I was wondering how I can find out more of this charity.
Unfortunately I cannot find it listed on the charity commision website . As we know, the Charity Commission is established by law as the regulator and registrar for charities in England and Wales.
The only Kenyons I can find on the charity commision website are here.
I also wondered why we here at Rotorheads aren't supporting this charity more

Sir, if that is the case, you are sorely wrong and you clearly don't know (which is very rare in the heli world) Dennis.
I suggest you telephone Dennis at his office at Shoreham Airport, West Sussex.

So far as I'm aware, the Dennis Kenyon Scholarship isn't a registered charity but IMHO it's a good cause.
Dennis Jnr, already a talented helicopter pilot, was killed a few years ago at the age of 18 when the H269 he was flying broke up during flight.

Dennis Snr, a former RAF Squadron Leader, respected instructor/examiner, world-renowned display pilot and senior member of the UK helicopter community, set up a scholarship in his son's memory. It seems at least two people have already obtained their licences via the scholarship - see DK's post above.

Christmas present.
DRK Scholarship.
First a quickie for Silsoe Jr,
We started the scholarship four years ago and so far have raised sufficient funding to complete the PPL(H) for two applicants, Zoe Spain and Hannah Nobbs, Hannah received her ticket three weeks ago. Zoe is now studying for her commercial and many of you will have already talked with her as she is now the FISO at Fairoaks Airport.
It's always a struggle to get sufficient funds, and I underwrite the shortfall. But if we can get a thousand sales from the DVD. the 2006 scholarship is secure. It's nice that the Mod is allowing some posts on the subject for which we are particularly grateful.
The scholarship is not registered as a charity, only because the five man (one woman) committee members feel the responsibilities for charity status are quite severe. Hence we have a simple scholarship fund. We get up to all sorts of fund raising. At the RAFA Shoreham show, we dropped 1000 tennis balls from 1000 feet into a dustbin. As an ex bomber pilot, I wasn't too happy to have missed the target. But in my earlier days we did have GeeH !!
Soon, with the depths of winter around us, one dark evening we plan to have a darts event at Shoreham, aiming to score 1,000,000 in 24 hours. We need a few darters who can get the odd ton, not the 26 I always seem to make.
The DVD will become available in two weeks, and a deal has been struck with Transair to distribute on a preferential cost basis, so I would not sell direct except at the Transair published price.
Once the dust has settled on this programme, the income figures will be available through the scholarship committee at Shoreham Airport.

Thanks for taking the time to post and updating us on how things are going. Although my son didn't understand why you should be writing a post to him.
I am more than happy to spread the word, however like most I'm sure, I certainly do not wish to get on the wrong side of the law by stating that you are running a charity programe when in fact you are not.;
(I hope that's now clearer for the hard of reading!)
Good luck on the darts marathon and if I'm down that way I'd be more than happy to help out, although I'd probably be joining you in 'double figure corner'!

Thanks for the darts contribution... makes a break from the trouble and gloom we often get on here!!
ONE MILLION UP. We need a team of players, who can average at least 40 in three darts, and can stay awake and will try something different!. We'll be aiming, (apart from at the treble 20!) to throw 25 darts in a minute. Say 19,500 scored per hour. Perhaps 500,000 per 24 hours.... so we need two boards !!
Darters will need to get sponsored for whatever the donor offers. Suggested 25p per 100,000 scored.
Now IF we have any professional hot shots out there, you know the "ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY !! " merchants! or even the 'one ton' guys will do.
Anyway the idea is to have six teams, (male & female please) who will shoot in one hour watches. Plus some good scorers who can stay awake. Also scorer/auditors.
Then some overloud supporters who can keep the darters fed and watered. A few cushions for snatched sleep and possibly a doctor for the 'darts elbow' massages. (Gill are you reading this.)
Over to you pruners!!!

I must put up my hand and admit it was my misunderstanding about the scholarship, as i thought it was a charity. but like Dennis says (and I should have said)
