On the limited information in this thread, Yes! - assuming that the pilots concerned were sufficiently associated with the contract before it was lost. If on the other hand the contract was just one of many which they (the pilots) worked on, then No! Trust a lawyer to have two answers . They really have to be part of a recognisable unit or entity assigned to that contract for TUPE to apply.

CHC Scotia 3-year contract with Apache North Sea
CHC Scotia Limited has been awarded a three-year contract (plus two one-year options) with Apache North Sea Ltd. for the provision of offshore helicopter support services.
Utilizing Super Puma AS332L aircraft from its Aberdeen fleet, CHC will provide crew transportation services for the Forties offshore oil and gas fields in the Central North Sea.
The three-year contract commences August, 2003, and replaces a contract formerly held with BP, which had been due to expire in August, 2004.
BP sold Forties, Britain's first major oilfield, to American firm Apache as part of a $1.3 billion (£830m) deal in Jan 2003. In its heyday in 1979, the Forties oilfield off Aberdeen produced a quarter of the UK's oil demand, pumping 500,000 barrels a day. Since then, its output has trickled down to an average of 58,000 barrels a day.

Life after the North Sea
Anybody got any thoughts / suggestions for a North Sea
pilot with 2000hrs (all north sea) looking to move on to
pastures new. What sort of operators
are after a professional Bacon Roll consumer?

Hey Delta!
Hope you won't mind a post of the completely non-helpful variety.
But you've obviously been where I'd like to go. I've got the IFR and 3,000 hours, all in helicopters. How do I get on with one of the North Sea outfits? My tickets are all from the FAA - will any NS outfit do the conversion?

I've not heard of North Sea operators actively converting people
'in house' from FAA to CAA. From guys Ive spoken to, the CAA look at everyone individually for your hours and experience and decide what training or testing you must do to convert. Obviously the more hours the better.
We had some guys from Canada come over with canadian licences and I think they were checked out in-house.
Send in the CV and see what happens.

Actually, and this may surprise you, but the Missus and I are planning a vacation to Aberdeen and the Grampian Highlands, and I'm looking very seriously into applying with Offshore Logistics - because of their relationship with Bristow.
We've even checked out some of the house prices around Dyce.

House Prices are on a rise at the moment, but still cheap
compared with the rest of the UK.
Try Bond Offshore, they are starting up next year to service Bp.
They are buying new Mk2 Pumas to start afresh and are seeking pilots now.
CHC are laying off pilots soon, Bristows also are rumouring to be doing same.
Let us know when your here and I'll show you round !

I'll post something on the board when I've got firm arrival dates - we're thinking sometime in May. We want to get there prior to the main tourist season.

CHC Scotia Pilot Redundancies
I hear redundacies are on the cards for pilots at CHC Scotia - does anyone know what is actually happening ?
I also heard that pilot redundancies are on hold while CHC wait to see if they have won a North Sea contract they are currently bidding for - anyone with knowledge ?

Well they have just won two short, small contracts from offshore companies. Doubt these are really make or break deals as far as any feared redundancies are concerned:

interesting - I don't know which rigs that will provide for.
perhaps chc are waiting until they lose the BP stuff to Bond in the summer before deciding their move - whilst seeing how things pan out with the Bristow redundancies currently under way.

I am going to be harsh but what alot of wannabees fail on is awareness. Knowing what is going on in the big picture outside the cockpit.
We find that most people who apply can hopefully fly but it is the excess capacity above what is required to fly the helicopter that is important.
You have started a thread which is just about identical in its aims as the one just below this (now) called "CHC recruitment". Are you not "aware" of this and the fact that Scotia is in fact CHC-Scotia. Doesn't bode well does it??
