I paid £750,000 for a North Sea equipped S.76A in 1981 (Jan).
At the time Art Tobey reckoned that for every helicopter Sikorsky sold to my Company, they were losing $1,000,000. My Company bought 5 new ones.

$13m is about right in 2014. C++ was $11m with discount in 2009-10. That's one reason why the sales dried up. S76 started to look very expensive against 139, Sikorsky should have been selling them at $8m

Nr-v-DECU question... Hope you guys can help here... A question came up the other day regarding what response the DECU has in a C+ aircraft when both NR signals are lost ?? I've been though RFM, TM all these posts etc and cannot find any answer...
As the DECU uses N2 (and other inputs) to maintain NR at 107, with no NR signal does this result in DECU MAJOR fault or High Side on that engine as the DECU see 0%NR and opens fuel to full flow.. Any and all pointers welcome...
Cheers

Not familiar with the arrangement but the DECU would only see N2 and only you would see NR. Don't know of many engines that bother with an NR input although some later machines with FADEC do use NR for ground idle.
Hello VTA,
The DECU has no input from an NR sensor but from N2 sensors only ( 2 sensors per engine -N2b and N2c) . Since the rotor is mechanically linked to the power turbines (N2) the NR is regulated via the N2 only (power turbines)

Hi Nick. I was wondering if you might be able to answer this query in relation to the H-76 Eagle.
Can you recall if the armed H-76 Eagle, with the standard tail rotor fitted, was ever demonstrated to the 160th SOAR, US Army, and if so, the approximate date?
Thanks.
500 Fan.

Thanks, 212. Didn't think they'd admit to coming from that unit but maybe even they are moving out of the shadows a little these days.
Did any of them mention if they are still flying MD530Fs or other 500s?

They had business cards, so no secrecy other than having to know what FCD actually was/is. It was 12 years ago, so I had no interest in asking about those types.
Armed S-76
212 Man, as near as I can recollect, Sikorsky delivered UH-76As to the either the US Government or one of the Government security contractors in the mid-1980s. These aircraft incorporated armament systems and beefed up tail cones. The tail cone beef up was required for launching TOW missiles. Later in the mid 1990 an S-76B was similarly configured but never sold. The aircraft was later reconfigured with the Sikorsky Fantail as part the Comanche program.
