don't read into it too far

strickers,

take however you like it, but if you read the original post i was referring that the females that i spoke to didn't happen to be aware of PPRUNE, but i stand by what i said, (having been privy to the conversation) of the 3 lasses that i spoke to on the day (i assume they were all part of the display), no ppruners?

the final line of the post further enquired as to the point in ones career that others became aware of the forum, & was not inferring gender bias.

after all, it was in fact a very informative lady that told me of it in the first place (& my regards to Mrs. imabell)

girl-power (& all that)

Here I am! And I would like to volunteer for miss November - since it's the month I was born! Can I pose next to a Bell 222 though?

WhirlyGirl Sarah ;-)

By the way there is a WhirlyGuy and a WhirlyBoy registered on another private flying forum, so I guess not ALL whirly's are female!

If we're going by names, then I'm going to keep very quiet if anyone mentions a boys' calendar...

Whirlygirl Sarah,

Nice to know you're still around.

OK, now where are the rest of you Whirlies/Whirlys?

PPrune

It's a strange one. Can't really remember how I got on to PPrune, I think it may have been general interest prior to starting my rotory journey.... I was probably surfing the web and stumbled across it as I don't remember being directed by anyone regarding the site - interesting.

I think, as with most things, without advertising growth is slow and I can't recall ever seeing an advertisment for PPrune either. We could just stick with "Well we all found it so the rest will to eventually". Pass the word

BTW If we are calling for months I'll take June and pose with that rather nice 427 on display at Avalon.

WhirlyGirl Sarah,

I'd love to come up with a witty answer, but instead I'll be honest. Sadly, they are just my initials.

I have to say, Whirly does tend to sound feminine to me, but perhaps that's just the influence of you lady whirlies over the past few years.

Long may you all continue to whirl!

Hurry Hurry Girls & Ladies only 9 months left for the takers!

Whirlygig Miss January
Strickers Miss June Bell 427
WhirlyGirlSarah Miss November Bell 222

So still some months left to fill and plenty of “Choppers” to choose from.

Nigel, you will get a mention on the back of the calendar, which is what you really want not?

There used to be a delightful lady at Helicopter Hire, Southend years ago....blonde, attractive, and quite a pilot who did a work on some James Bond films and also Battle of Britain. Whatever happened to her? I had a very enjoyable visit with her discussing employment in a former life.

I suppose the reason that "Whirly" sounds feminine is that it is onomatopaeic (sp????) 'cos it rhymes with "girly" but, of the Whirlies listed earlier, I'm sure that most of them are blokes.

The thing is, that of the Whirlies who post regularly, we are female and that is nothing more than synchronicity!

Blind,

...er....Headsethair is a bloke.

So no, we won't have him down as Miss February

Cheers

Gig,

Is this all being a bit non-PC...casting aside potential candidates based upon mere gender? Certainly, if we were to use such criteria in the selection of students or in hiring or evauating others, there would be grounds for complaint. I mean after all...did we not have a lawsuit in the USA over men not being hired by a small family restaurant called "Hooters" a while back.

As helicopter pilots and pilot-ettes are we not above such gender based concepts.

OK SASless love,

It's a fair point well made

No sexism here

BUT

I still don't think Headsethair can be Miss February. Mr. February maybe.

Cheers

Whirlygig

Why? You wanna be Mr. May?

Mr. May and Mr. February are quite welcome to join the calendar as long as they dress appropriately!

I knew it.....they caved guys! Without a fight...no struggle....even the mere hint of a whinge and the game is given up. We trained them well....or are there more things helicopter pilots have in common.

Dear me! No Maam....no thanks....cameras break when pointed my way....besides the calendar would have to be laid out landscape style vice portrait to get me on it. I have the shape of a cotton bale with the center tie busted. Too many evenings propping up the nearest bar.....my big red nose plays heck with the anti-red eye settings as well.

I would propose Nick Lappos as Mr. May....if he can shove his shorthand taker off his knee long enough to pose. But then again, ol' Nick having done a bunk to the fixed wing industry....should he be allowed to be on a Rotorhead calendar?
